CLEARWATER, FLORIDA: Australian heartthrob Julian McMahon, known for his magnetic turns on 'Nip/Tuck' and 'Charmed' died on July 2 after a secret battle with cancer.

However, there was no funeral.

According to the Daily Mail, McMahon was quietly cremated in Clearwater, Florida. His final arrangements were reportedly handled by Eternal Cremation Services in Dunedin, just outside the beachside city. When asked whether a funeral took place at all, a spokesperson reportedly said, "There was not."

Also, no confirmation was given as to whether his wife, Kelly Paniagua, 47, attended the cremation at Palm State Crematory.

Julian McMahon's low-profile final chapter contrasts sharply with his Hollywood past

Julian McMahon, 56, was the son of former Australian Prime Minister Sir William McMahon, yet he seemed to shun any political limelight in his final chapter.

The move from California to Clearwater, Florida, a city synonymous with the Church of Scientology, has further deepened the mystery. Scientology has a massive headquarters, Flag, located at the heart of Clearwater, with some 4,000 members living there.

However, there's no known connection between McMahon and the controversial religion.

Adding to the mystery, his residential address on the death certificate was listed as a Ventura Boulevard building in Encino, California. However, that’s not a home, it's a corporate space housing a showbiz accountancy firm and two other businesses.

His occupation was listed simply as "producer/entertainment," with “some college credit, but no degree.”

Julian McMahon’s private battle with cancer ended quietly

Though Julian McMahon became known for his role as Dr Christian Troy on 'Nip/Tuck' and played the charming but dark Cole Turner on 'Charmed,' his final days were rather private. He passed away at Morton Plant Hospital in Florida, succumbing to lung metastasis, a condition where cancer spreads from other parts of the body to the lungs.

The cremation approval report also listed head and neck metastatic cancer as the underlying cause, although the origin of the cancer remains undisclosed. The Pinellas County Medical Examiner confirmed that no autopsy will be conducted.

For a man once beloved in the industry, the radio silence from Hollywood pals and co-stars has been rather deafening. No major memorial or tributes have surfaced, but there were a few heartfelt words from Nicolas Cage, who starred alongside Julian in his final project, 'The Surfer.'

“Our scenes together on 'The Surfer' were amongst my favorites I have ever participated in. He was a kind and intelligent man,” Cage told Deadline.

McMahon's last public appearance was in March at the SXSW premiere of 'The Surfer' in Texas. Fans who saw him there now recall how he looked thinner, frailer, and wore a blue blazer that seemed to hang off his once-toned frame. This may have been a silent clue no one picked up at the time.

Kelly Paniagua speaks as Julian McMahon's family grieves quietly

The late star’s wife, Kelly Paniagua, whom he married in a Lake Tahoe ceremony in 2014, released a statement after his death.

“With an open heart, I wish to share to the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer. Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans. His deepest wish was to bring joy to as many lives as possible.”

She added, “We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”

Back in Australia, his sisters Melinda (58) and Debbie (52) were said to be “devastated” by the news. Both women remain out of the spotlight but were mourning at their respective homes.

McMahon was previously married to Dannii Minogue and 'Baywatch' star Brooke Burns.

The homes he and Paniagua shared over the years were breathtaking. They once owned a stylish three-bedroom, four-bathroom property under the Hollywood sign, sold in 2015 for $2.16 million (now worth around $3.4 million).

Their last known California address was a stunning 15.5-acre hacienda-style property in Somis, nestled in Ventura County’s avocado region, which they sold in August 2023 for $2.825 million.

The listing described potential income from 4.5 acres of Hass avocados and 10 acres of lemons, and it was even offered furnished. But despite their move to Florida, no property records show they owned anything in Clearwater.
