HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA: Julianne Hough and Timothee Chalamet made a memorable red-carpet appearance at the 2025 Oscars, but it was their awkward interview that quickly went viral.

In the now-infamous video, Hough, 36, asked the 29-year-old ‘Dune: Part Two’ star to show off some dance moves, sparking a cringe-worthy exchange that had fans mocking and roasting her on social media. 

The awkward moment between the two stars left many questioning the interaction as it became one of the talks of the night.

In a video shared on Julianne Hough's TikTok page, she made the most of the brief interaction she had with Oscar nominee Timothee Chalamet at the 97th Academy Awards, asking the actor whether he had any favorite dance moves. 

The 'Dancing with the Stars’ star asked, “Alright, we’ve got a little mic right here, we’ve got Timothee Chalamet. Do you have any, like, dance moves that you go to? Like a go-to [move]?” 

Chalamet paused before turning the question back to her, asking, “Umm, do you?” Hough, 36, confidently responded, “I do,” and then proceeded to demonstrate a little body roll in front of the cameras.

Chalamet, seemingly unimpressed, asked, “Where did you learn that?” Hough humorously replied that she’d been doing it since "coming out of the womb.” Joking, Chalamet quipped, “You did that as a baby? That didn’t mess up your spine the rest of your life? You didn’t have to do spinal adjustments?”

Laughing, Hough confirmed that she does, in fact, get spinal adjustments now. 

“OK, thanks,” Chalamet said with clear discomfort, before quickly concluding, “Have a good one.” Hough nervously giggled and ended the conversation by thanking him for his time.

It’s worth noting that Hough’s conversation with Chalamet was just one of several dance-related moments she captured, as she also interviewed other A-listers, including Ariana Grande, asking them to show off their dance moves on the red carpet. 

For the 2025 Oscars, Chalamet turned heads in a butter-yellow leather suit, accompanied by his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, mother Nicole Flender, and sister Pauline Chalamet. Notably, he lost the Best Actor award for his role in 'A Complete Unknown' to Adrien Brody, who took home the trophy instead.

Julianne Hough was brutally mocked for her "awkward" interview with Oscar nominee Timothee Chalamet after the clip of the interaction went viral on social media by taking to the comments section of her TikTok video.

One social media user commented, "That was awkward," while another bluntly asked, "Why do I feel like he just bullied you?"

One person said, "I don’t think he was rude, I think it was a weird question and also even more awkward if you don’t want to dance for the camera lol."

Another commenter remarked, "Stupid dumb interviewer, she is just being loud and weird, he’s at the Oscars for Christ’s sake and your [sic] asking stupid unintelligent questions completely unrelated and being loud with a fake laugh."

One individual suggested, "He’s more strict around women now that he’s started dating Kylie [Jenner] cuz i noticed in his past interviews when I liked him in 2020 he was silly when getting interviewed. idk maybe it’s just me."
