LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Justin Baldoni’s proposal to his now-wife Emily Baldoni has come up as a “red flag” to many.

Last week the 40-year-old actor was sued by his ‘It Ends With Us’ co-star Blake Lively who accused him of sexual harassment and creating a toxic work environment. Moreover, Ryan Reynolds’ wife further accused Baldoni of launching a smear campaign against her in the aftermath of their feud coming in public during the film’s promotion in July and August.

However, as Lively’s nearly 80-page-long complaint against Baldoni came to the fore, internet sleuths started digging out past controversies of the ‘Jane the Virgin’ star.

While Baldoni's proposal video from 2013 initially gained traction during the film’s release in July 2024 when he was praised for advocating against domestic violence, it has been gaining renewed interest amid the lawsuit.

Justin Baldoni’s proposal video gets called out

Recently a TikTok user revisited Justin Baldoni’s proposal video which was made public by the YouTube channel of his Wayfarer Studios.

According to BuzzFeed, while the video previously drew attention when Baldioni spoke about domestic violence and toxic masculinity during the film’s promotion back in July, it is now getting called out for all the wrong reasons.

The proposal video is nearly 27 minutes long and shows the actor donning several personas before proposing to his now-wife, Emily.

To sum it up, the video starts with Baldoni sending Emily to the restaurant where they had their first date. Throughout the video, the ‘Five Feet Apart’ star tries to decide how to make the perfect proposal to Emily as he starts by mimicking NSYNC's music video for ‘God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You.’

Later, he and his motley of actors perform to Boyz II Men’s ‘I'll Make Love To You.’ Baldoni then dances to ABBA's ‘Dancing Queen’ where he and his group dress as women.

This was not all as the video soon followed a choreographed flash mob in front of a Target store.

Towards the end of the video, Baldoni realizes that despite all the grand gestures, all his then-girlfriend needed was just him. It propelled his flight to the restaurant where Emily was waiting.

Once he reaches the restaurant, he says to Emily, "I have a whole bunch I want to say but, baby, all that stuff, that's for me. You don't care about that stuff. You care about this... You're the woman that has changed my life. I've never been happier, never been sadder, I've never been more angry, life has never been more beautiful."

His proposal, unsurprisingly, bore fruition as she said yes and the couple got married the same year.

Justin Baldoni gets called out for his proposal

As the TikTok user posted clips from the video with her take on it, other social media users started slamming the proposal calling it a "cringe fest." Some of them even called the actor a "narcissist" for the behavior.

A social media user said on TikTok, "He’s the problem I don’t need to see anything else 😂."

"My ex boss did a cringe video like this that played at the reception. They divorced less than a year later 😳," said another disgruntled user.

An unimpressed fan chimed in, "The fact that multiple people would’ve had to review and edit this and they all said yeah, this is it."

"This is the video they show in a comedy romcom to show the bad boyfriend. Watch Serendipity!!! Ahahahaha! 😂," quipped another.

Meanwhile, a TikToker noted, "His entire video is a cringe fest. How she was able to sit there and not be embarrassed is shocking😂." Another added in disbelief, "He literallly filmed all this so he could post it not for her lmao."

"Even once he got in front of her and started talking it felt like a scene from 'Jane the Virgin.' Nothing genuine in a single word he uttered," declared someone else.

Another fan even claimed that he took his role in 'It Ends With Us' a little too seriously, saying, "Omg this is made my uhoh button go off. I’m legit sick to my stomach, what in the 1998 backstreet boy is this weird bs?! I’m disgusted 😭 I knew he played Rile a little too well, man."

"Hey, so this is INSANE 😂. The most narcissistic way you could ever possibly propose," shared another user who was not pleased with the proposal video.

"Anyone who’s survived narc abuse gets it 💯. That proposal video screams 🗣️narc," declared a user.

Another user commented on YouTube, "Bro this is a RED flag of narcissist."

"He’s a pompous idiot. This little whatever it is film just shows him for how full of himself he is," said one.

Nevertheless, a TikToker pointed out, "Love how EVERYONE was loving this when it came out and now people be turning on it - people are so fickle opinioned."

"90 percent of the time if you ask a man what he loves about his woman, the answer will be about how she makes him feel. Try it," added another.
