Justin Bieber no longer following 'brother' and mentor Usher on Instagram amid Diddy drama
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Justin Bieber no longer appears to be following his friend and former mentor Usher on Instagram amid the ongoing allegations against their former mentor Sean "Diddy" Combs.
According to The Sun, the 30-year-old ‘Baby’ singer has unfollowed several people from the earlier days of his career, including Usher.
This development has led to speculations regarding the changing dynamics between Bieber and his mentor Usher, whom the singer once called "brother."
Justin Bieber has unfollowed Usher on Instagram
Justin Bieber’s Instagram following list has confirmed that the new dad is no longer following Usher. However, it has been observed that he is still followed by the 46-year-old ‘Hey Daddy’ singer.
Apart from Usher, the ‘Peaches’ singer has appeared to have severed ties — at least on social media — with several other people associated with his past.
Fans noted his changed dynamic with Usher just a few weeks after noticing that Bieber had also unfollowed his former manager Scooter Braun.
Nevertheless, Braun has deactivated his Instagram account, which would also remove him from Bieber's Instagram following list.
It has also come under the fans’ notice that the singer has unfollowed Allison Kaye, who served as his former manager from SB Projects, along with Kenny Hamilton, his former bodyguard from the 2000s.
Bieber has even feted out similar treatment to Poo Bear, a singer-songwriter with whom he has collaborated multiple times, including on his 2021 album ‘Justice’.
Also missing from his following list is Ryan Good, the creative director of his fashion label Drew House, whom Bieber once fondly called his "swag coach," reported the Daily Mail.
Usher reportedly helped install Good as Bieber’s road manager in 2009, and he also served as his best man in his wedding to Hailey Bieber.
The outlet reported that Bieber’s curtailed list of people he is following came after an insider claimed that he had been completely “thrown” by the disturbing allegations made against Sean "Diddy" Combs.
The insider shared, “Bieber is so disturbed by the Diddy news and is unwilling to process it or discuss it so he has shut off.”
“So many people who helped to make him who he is were very close to Diddy and it has completely thrown him,” continued the source, before adding, “Justin hasn't been responding on this since the home raids [on Diddy's mansions]. He's not going to.”
This is, however, not the first time, when Bieber has allegedly snubbed Usher as the ‘One Time’ singer has previously turned down his former mentor's invitation to join him at the 2024 Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show.
Though he did not perform with Usher, he watched the show from the stands with his wife Hailey. Later, he paid an Instagram tribute to Usher, writing, "LOVE YOU MY BROTHER."
Justin Bieber's fans speculate reasons behind his unfollowing spree
Justin Bieber's fans were left speculating on Reddit regarding the entire scenario and claimed that the singer previously had "shady people around him."
One of the Reddit users noted, "As a HUUGE Justin Bieber fan way back his peak, seeing him doing these makes me happy. Looking at it now as a 27 year old, damn, Justin really had shady people around him."
Someone else asked, "Damn. I have a feeling something big is cooking up. Maybe an incoming lawsuit?"
"He's a new dad. Having a child really helps put things into perspective. You imagine the things you've put up with happening to your child and your protective instincts kick in and what once seemed so important now is now intolerable. I dont know what happened but I'm happy that Justin seems to be doing what's best for him and his family. He doesn't owe anyone an explanation," one person said.
Another remarked, "This is really interesting… I wonder when it’s all going to be revealed what’s going on."
"I wonder why he unfollowed. I see he has not unfollowed other friends in the business like Drake or The Weeknd. I think it has to do with Scooter and his crowd," noted someone else.
One fan observed, "Turned down Usher’s invite to perform at the SB too."
"Fascinating how he’s doing this all one by one like he wants someone to notice. If it was a mass unfollowing some of these people would be lost in the shuffle but this way it can’t be," added another.
