Justin Timberlake was 'wasted' and drinking from others' glasses at Hamptons hotel before arrest, eyewitness claims

SAG HARBOR, LONG ISLAND: Although Justin Timberlake claimed to officers he had only "one martini" before his early Tuesday (June 18) morning DWI arrest in the Hamptons, an eyewitness said that the singer was "wasted."

Before being taken into custody on DWI-related charges in the Hamptons, Timberlake was allegedly spotted consuming a customer's drink.

The 'Mirrors' hitmaker was found driving in Long Island, New York, while under the influence. On Tuesday, June 18, Timberlake appeared in court for his arraignment and was immediately released from police custody.

Eyewitness at Hamptons hotel confirms Justin Timberlake overindulged in alcohol

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Timberlake, 43, was seen drinking at the upscale American Hotel in Sag Harbor, Long Island.

Before his DWI arrest on Tuesday, Timberlake was allegedly "wasted," a witness told the New York Post that he even took a drink off of someone else's table and drank it when the owner walked to the restroom.

The insider detailed the early-morning scenario and said, "He was wasted. At one point, just before closing, somebody got up to go to the bathroom and left his drink on the table."

"When [the man] came back, [Timberlake] was drinking his drink. The guy goes, 'Justin, that’s my drink!'" the insider added.

Timberlake reportedly left the area at 12:30 a.m. after partying there with his friends. However, he was apprehended by traffic police a few minutes after leaving after they noticed him swerving between lanes and running through a stop sign.

Following his departure from the upscale American Hotel, Timberlake was pulled over by police. He was cited for skipping a stop sign, driving his gray 2025 BMW outside the designated lane, and being charged with intoxicated driving.

According to additional, recently released information, Timberlake smelled strongly of alcohol when the police pulled him over and saw that he had bloodshot, glassy eyes.

A "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage" was "emanating from [Timberlake's] breath," per the arrest report.

The singer failed the field sobriety test as well, which measures how well he can follow directions, balance, and coordinate—all of which can be impacted by drugs or alcohol.

According to court records, he refused to consent to a Breathalyzer test three times while telling arresting authorities he had only "one martini, and I followed my friends home," per the New York Post.

According to New York State law, the married father of two would have to pay a penalty for the citation. He is scheduled to appear in court for the charge hearing on July 26.

The artist is now on a global tour, which is scheduled to stop in Manhattan next week at Madison Square Garden.
