WASHINGTON, DC: Rep Andy Ogles (R-Tenn) is set to file articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris on July 24, over the border crisis and for withholding the knowledge of President Joe Biden's cognitive decline, reported Fox News.

According to the publication, the Congressman accused Harris of breaching public trust and willfully refusing to uphold US immigration law in two impeachment articles. His actions come at a time when many members of the House GOP are questioning when and what the Vice President knew of the incumbent's alleged loss of mental acuity, which came under the spotlight following his debate against GOP nominee Donald Trump in June.

Introduced on July 23, the impeachment articles are part of the offensive by Republicans against Harris, as she entered the presidential race after being endorsed by Biden as he suspended his reelection campaign.

Impeachment articles against Kamala Harris

The first article of impeachment, which deals with the breach of public trust, reportedly accused the Vice President of having "knowingly misled the people of the United States and the Congress of the United States, principally to obfuscate the physical and cognitive well-being of the President of the United States, Joe Biden."

Harris, who undertook the task of addressing the root causes of mass migration from Central and South America early on in the administration, was labeled as the "border czar" in the second article.

"Kamala Devi Harris has demonstrated extraordinary incompetence in the execution of her duties and responsibilities, a stark refusal to uphold the existing immigration law, and a palpable indifference to people of the United States suffering as a result of the ongoing southern border crisis in the United States," it stated.

"During her tenure as the designated border czar, the US Customs and Border Protection Agency ‘encountered' nearly 302,000 illegal aliens at the southwest border in December 2023, the highest monthly total ever recorded and representing 4 consecutive months of over 240,000 illegal alien ‘encounters.'"

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 05: Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) talks to reporters with fellow Freedom Caucus members Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) (L) and Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) about their Stand with Israel resolution at the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center on March 05, 2024 in Washington, DC. Freedom Caucus Chair Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) said the resolution will reaffirm strong U.S. support for Israel, denounce calls for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and to defund United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNWRA). Good introduced the resolution one day after Vice President Kamala Harris called for a ceasefire in Gaza during a speech in Selma, Alabama, commemorating the 59th anniversary of Bloody Sunday. A resolution on the same issue by Rep Elise Stefanik (R-NY) was advanced by the House Rules Committee as well and is expected to be put to vote within the week.

Internet slams Republicans for wasting time with impeachment articles

The internet was not pleased with Republican lawmakers for moving legislation against the Vice President and predicted that they wouldn't "follow through." Some pointed out that it was a waste of time and effort ahead of the elections, and the following tweets reacting to the news demonstrate the prevalent view on the social media platform X.

"Blah blah blah. GOP won’t follow through. All talk and no action and the dems know this," wrote a user.

"We just need to stop with Articles of Impeachment. Let’s just focus on winning the election," stated another.

"100 per cent meaningless, as per usual with the @HouseGOP," jibed a third.

"Republicans do nothing but waste time and money," chided another.

"Yawn yet another sham impeachment," quipped a fifth.
