WASHINGTON, DC: Former Vice President Kamala Harris is facing mockery online after rebranding her campaign account on X (formerly Twitter).
She revived her old “KamalaHQ” handle and relaunched it as “headquarters_67,” incorporating a Gen Alpha slang term aimed at connecting with younger voters. Conservatives and right-leaning netizens quickly mocked the move, calling it “cringe” and "out of touch."
Kamala Harris announces rebrand of her campaign account
On Thursday, February 5, Kamala Harris announced a rebrand of her long-dormant campaign account, following a cryptic teaser the day before. Her “KamalaHQ” account on X, which went silent after her 2024 presidential loss to Donald Trump, now carries the handle “headquarters_67.” Harris introduced the update in a video message.
In the video, Harris, wearing a purple suit, said the account will serve as a hub to connect with “elected leaders, community leaders, civic leaders, faith leaders, [and] young leaders.”
The rebranded account, now simply called “HQ” with the handle @headquarters_67, posted a video captioned: “Welcome to Headquarters, the new Gen-Z led progressive content hub.”
Off-screen, a staffer asked, “Madam Vice President, what’s going on with KamalaHQ?”
Harris responded, “Well, I’m so glad you asked. I have good news. So, Kamala HQ is turning into Headquarters, and it’s where you can go online to get basically the latest of what’s going on, and also to meet and revisit with some of our great courageous leaders, be they elected leaders, community leaders, civic leaders, faith leaders, young leaders. I’m really excited about it. So stay engaged and I’ll see you out there. Thank you.”
The day before, Harris teased the announcement on her X and Instagram accounts. A screen recording showed her team logging into the campaign accounts, entering multiple incorrect passwords for “KamalaHQ,” including “waytooonline,” “thebabysitterisweird,” and “project2025wasreal,” before successfully accessing “headquarters.”
The video, posted to both platforms, ended with a black screen reading “Tomorrow.” Both accounts have followings of over one million.
Kamala Harris mocked for ‘cringe’ attempt to connect to American youths
Kamala Harris’ rebranded campaign account on X quickly went viral after she tried to connect with younger voters using Gen Alpha slang.
She revived her old “KamalaHQ” handle and renamed it “headquarters_67,” adopting the term “67,” a playful expression children sometimes use when they don’t want to answer a question seriously. However, many right-leaning millennial users criticized the move as out of touch, noting that their Gen Alpha children already consider the slang outdated.
Republican operative Matt Gorman repeated Harris’ description of the project, saying, “'Gen-Z led progressive content hub.' Magic words for the lib consultant PowerPoint deck.”

Chris Rufo of the Manhattan Institute chimed in, “My children have informed me that ’67’ is already old, tired, and cringe, so once again, Kamala is coming up short.”

Heritage Foundation visiting fellow Mike Howell also mocked the effort, writing, “How can a Gen-Z led operation be led by a Baby Boomer? Bad Boy Doug is more in touch w the youth IMO.”

Even CNN host Dana Bash added her own critique, saying, “By the way, the handle they’re using, you can see there, we’re zooming in on it … 6-7, as the kids used to say. Well, you know, used to say a lot of things. And I think they also used to say, that’s probably cringe."
A user dubbed the move, "Nice Joker cosplay."
An internet user added, "This is so deeply out of touch."
