WASHINGTON, DC: As Kamala Harris promotes her book '107 Days,' she recently appeared on the 'Storehouse & Friends' podcast to discuss the memoir. The book chronicles the 107-day span of her 2024 presidential campaign against Donald Trump. Sharing behind-the-scenes details about her strategy and preparation, Harris laughed and revealed she played “three-dimensional chess” during the campaign.
Kamala Harris revealed what decision she made during her 2024 campaign against Donald Trump
In a weekend podcast episode, former Vice President Kamala Harris said she was determined not to let Trump outmaneuver her during the 2024 presidential campaign. Harris lost all seven swing states and the national popular vote to Trump that year.
On the show, Harris said she studied Trump’s campaign strategy closely to ensure it would not affect her own. “I was aware of my opponent’s strategy. And I wasn’t about to fall prey or fall into those traps,” she said.
She added, “And I wasn’t about to be distracted by those flames that he was trying to throw to get me away from one of my highest priorities, which was talking to people about the economy and their well-being, in terms of their financial well-being.”
She revealed, “I understood the game that was being played and I made a decision that I wasn’t going to get played."
Harris laughed for several seconds as one of the hosts commented, “Chess, not checkers.”
“Yeah,” she replied. “Three-dimensional chess.”
Kamala Harris reveals why she lost to Trump in 2024 presidential race
This comes after Harris explained why she lost to Trump in the 2024 presidential race. During her book tour, she appeared on 'The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart' in October and said a major reason for her loss was that she only had '107 days' to campaign after former President Joe Biden dropped out and endorsed her on July 21, 2024.
In response, host Jon Stewart told Harris he believed she might have won if her campaign had been shorter. “I do believe one of the biggest factors that was at play in the '107 days' — we just didn’t have enough time. We didn’t have enough time,” Harris said.
“Or was it too much time? I mean, if you had done the election after 60 days, I think you win, honestly,” Stewart replied. “There seemed like a stagnation point. And then if you look at the lines … what would have changed?”
Toward the end of the campaign, on October 20, 2024, Trump staged a stunt in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania, by wearing an apron and serving French fries at a McDonald’s. The move was aimed at Harris, who had said she worked at McDonald’s while in college, though Trump and media reports disputed her claim.
