WASHINGTON, DC: Former vice president Kamala Harris faced flak from critics over her Fourth of July post as she cropped out a rather crucial individual from the photo that went with it.

The Democrat has made few public appearances since her loss to President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, as all seven swing states went to the Republican.

Kamala Harris took to X (formerly Twitter) and posted a picture of herself with her better half, Doug Emhoff, with the caption, "This Fourth of July, I am taking a moment to reflect. Things are hard right now. They are probably going to get worse before they get better."

"But I love our country — and when you love something, you fight for it. Together, we will continue to fight for the ideals of our nation," the former VP added.

However, the post garnered online attention as it was quite evident that she had cropped out former president Joe Biden from the picture. It was seemingly a cropped version of a picture from last year's celebrations from the White House balcony, where she stood with Joe and Jill to her left.

In 2024, Harris replaced Biden as the Democratic Presidential candidate for the election after a disastrous debate performance by the former president against the then-Republican candidate, Trump.

Biden's debate performance also raised questions about his cognitive health and whether he was ready for another term as the president.

However, Harris could not repeat what Biden did in 2020 and ended up losing to Trump in November 2024. Since then, she has hardly made any public appearances, but has been critical of the Trump administration.

In April 2025, Harris delivered a keynote address that attacked the current administration's economic and immigration policies, without directly invoking Trump's name, during a 20th anniversary gala in San Francisco for Emerge, a Democratic group helping women run for office.

Meanwhile, sources close to the former VP informed Politico that she will decide about her political future by the end of summer 2025.

Internet trolls Kamala Harris over her Fourth of July post

Several internet users trolled Kamala Harris for allegedly cropping the former president out of the photo.

A person bluntly wrote, "What a pathetic and disgusting post," whereas someone else noted, "Things got better when you lost."

"I wonder how our previous President feels about @KamalaHarris cropping him out of this picture," an individual wrote.

One more quipped, "Kamala cropping out the Biden’s from her photo is the most relatable thing she has ever done."

One critic wrote, "I honestly can't imagine being this humbled and not even realizing it. What a beat down," while another joked, "That’s hilarious. She’s erasing him like a girl angrily scribbling out her ex-best friend’s photo in the yearbook."

"A picture speaks a thousand words...tell us how you truly feel about Joe Kamala?!" another mockingly asked.
