KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI: The mayor of Kansas City knows the gravity of the relationship between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.

As Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs prepares to take on the Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans' Caesars Superdome on Sunday, February 9, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas offered to "officiate" the pair's wedding - whenever it happens.

While football fans are waiting eagerly for the biggest NFL clash of the season, rumors have started speculating that the star tight end would finally pop the question to the singer at the Super Bowl.

Now, reflecting on the same, the Kansas City mayor could not hide his interest in acting as the officiator of the wedding that he claimed would eclipse even Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding.

Kansas City mayor says officiating Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's marriage would be the biggest job he could ever have

During his appearance on CNN News Central on Friday, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas shared that he would be absolutely thrilled to officiate the lovebirds' wedding, as per The Independent

Gushing about the couple’s relationship, Lucas said, "I am excited to officiate the wedding. That would be the biggest job I could ever have."

Lucas could not hide his fanboy moment, as he continued, "Forget before [being] the mayor. You’re the officiant for Travis and Taylor [Swift]! It would be a bigger wedding than Princess Diana and Prince Charles. It would be huge."

The mayor, however, has competition as he is not the only person wishing to officiate Kelce and Swift’s wedding.

In September 2024, Flavor Flav - a self-proclaimed mega fan of Swift - said that he wanted to be the person officiating the couple’s nuptials.

He told Us Weekly, "I think they’re going to be together for a while. I hope they [are], and if they get married, I want to be the preacher. I want to be the one that marries them."

Bill Maher says Travis Kelce is not a 'keeper'

While most of the fans of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce can't get enough of their romance, comedian Bill Maher harbors a different opinion. During the latest episode of his 'Club Random' podcast, the 69-year-old television host recently doubled down on his previous take on the power couple's relationship - that it won't last.

At one point in the episode, Maher said he didn't "quite get the music" of Swift.

When guest Luke Bryan defended Swift, saying she "worked her b**t off to earn those fans," Maher replied, "I admire her. Yeah, the music either works or it doesn't. But as a human, I have great admiration, because to be that far up in the stratosphere and not be doing anything stupid, be still a good role model, basically. You know, she's had a bunch of boyfriends …"

However, Bryan was not going to let Maher shade the pop icon's love life, and said, "The only thing people can say about her [is] she's had boyfriends? Then she goes and lands Travis Kelce and then it's like, 'Oh my gosh, she's crushing it'."

While Bryan doubled down on his take, saying, "She's with Travis Kelce, which is crazy," Maher chimed in, "So what?" and bluntly declared, "First of all, that's gonna end."

The comedian, who is not completely sold into the relationship, explained, "Look, Travis is not the keeper—he's just not. I mean, he's not yet ready to be house-trained. He's not. And he's going to be coming off another Super Bowl."
