Bill Maher doubles down on Travis Kelce’s romantic future with Taylor Swift, says NFL star not a ‘keeper’

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Bill Maher isn’t shy about sharing his thoughts on love, and when it comes to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, he’s doubling down on his prediction: It won’t last.
During a recent episode of his 'Club Random' podcast, Maher, 69, sat down with country music star Luke Bryan to talk music, fame, and, inevitably, Swift.
Bill Maher doubts Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce romance
During a discussion with Luke Bryan, Bill Maher revealed he didn't "quite get the music" of Taylor Swift. Bryan then came to the defense of the pop icon, saying that she "worked her b**t off to earn those fans."

Maher responded and admitted, "I admire her," and continued, "Yeah, the music either works or it doesn't. But as a human, I have great admiration, because to be that far up in the stratosphere and not be doing anything stupid, be still a good role model, basically. You know, she's had a bunch of boyfriends …"
Bryan, 48, wasn’t about to let Maher write off Swift’s love life so easily. "The only thing people can say about her [is] she's had boyfriends?" Bryan responded and added, "Then she goes and lands Travis Kelce and then it's like, 'Oh my gosh, she's crushing it'."
"She's with Travis Kelce, which is crazy," Bryan said later in the conversation.
Bill Maher added he wasn’t sold on her relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end.
"So what?" Maher said bluntly and declared, "First of all, that's gonna end."

But Maher wasn’t convinced that Kelce was the one.
"No, but, look, Travis is not the keeper—he's just not. I mean, he's not yet ready to be house-trained. He's not. And he's going to be coming off another Super Bowl," Maher insisted.
Bryan, staying diplomatic, made it clear he wasn’t interested in playing fortune teller.
"I'm not getting into any of that," he said.
"Of course, you shouldn't," Maher responded, before taking a playful jab at Kelce’s lifestyle. "He's you 20 years ago with more liquor in him," he noted.
Bill Maher’s not-so-new prediction
If Bill Maher’s prediction sounds familiar, it’s because he made almost the exact same call last summer.
In a July 29, 2024 episode of his 'Club Random' podcast, Maher sat down with viral sensation Hailey Welch, better known as the 'Hawk Tuah' girl, where the conversation inevitably turned to Swift.
While bonding over their appreciation for Swift’s older hits like 'Sparks Fly', Maher took a jab at the pop star’s highly publicized relationship with Kelce.
"I’m sure she’s a lovely person," Maher began, before adding, "but the whole thing with the football player. I just felt like 35 was a little old to be like, ‘My boyfriend’s a football player, and I wear his jersey to the game with his number on it!’ Right? I mean, come on."
Welch, 22, didn’t take the bait, responding, "Whatever makes her happy. If that’s what she wants to do and it makes her happy... it ain’t got nothin’ to do with me."
But Maher wasn’t done.
"He's gonna dump her though, you know that?" he claimed and continued, "With her, it’s like the Gatorade at the Super Bowl—you know you’re gonna get dumped. You just don’t know when."
Welch had a quick and strong response: "Then I'm gonna be a Travis Kelce hater." However, she soon saw a silver lining.
"You gotta think about it this way," she said, leaning into Swift’s signature breakup anthems. "If he does that, can you imagine the next album we’re gonna get off of that?" she stated.
