NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce appears to have offended some Taylor Swift fans by saying that having President Donald Trump at the Super Bowl this weekend would be an "honor."

Several Swifties have called the tight end's statement "disappointing," given the politician's previous comments about his pop star girlfriend.

Trump is expected to attend the game on February 9 as a guest of New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson, as per Whiskey Riff.

Travis Kelce says it's 'pretty cool' to have Donald Trump at the Super Bowl

The Chiefs tight end gave a fairly positive response when asked during a news conference on Wednesday, February 5, what he thought of the White House's recent revelation that Donald Trump will be the first sitting president to ever attend the Super Bowl.

"No matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life," Kelce said, adding, "It’s a great honor. Having the president there — it’s the best country in the world — and that’s pretty cool."

The tight end's comment regarding Trump's attendance came just four days before Super Bowl LIX, which will be played at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The Chiefs are hoping to win their third consecutive Super Bowl title in their clash against the Philadelphia Eagles, as per Billboard.

Swift, who attended several of her boyfriend's home games throughout the 2024–25 NFL season, is expected to support him in the final match.

Donald Trump and Taylor Swift's past rifts

It's widely known that Taylor Swift and Donald Trump aren't really fond of each other.

For starters, Trump and his campaign used Photoshopped and AI-generated images to falsely portray the pop star as a MAGA supporter in the run-up to the 2024 election.

Moreover, Trump posted, "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT," on Truth Social in September after the multiple Grammy winner endorsed his then-opponent former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Swifties were also offended when Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' wife, Brittany Mahomes, liked one of Trump's Instagram posts ahead of the 2024 election.

Comparing Brittany and Swift, the MAGA spearhead wrote in another Truth Social post, "I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country."

"With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless 'leaders,' it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM. What a great couple - See you both at the Super Bowl!" he added.

Travis Kelce's remark on Donald Trump's Super Bowl appearance enrages Swifties

Swifties were not happy with Travis Kelce's response to the reporter's question on Donald Trump's presence at the Super Bowl, with some going as far as to urge the pop star to "dump" her tight end beau.

A surprised fan questioned, "The man who tweeted that he hates your girlfriend?" and another urged, "Dump him NOW."

"I want this Trump supporter FAR away from Taylor. Enough of him," a fan declared, with one more saying, "Every time i start to like him a little he f***s it up."

"After seeing that video i want tay to dump him idc about the backlash we’ll recover," another Swift fan wrote. "Tay… please dump him," urged another.

"Lameee, fence sitting to please the media and public for a man that has directly attacked your girlfriend is lamee," a person snarked, while one more said, "This is disappointing…. he has also publicly has insulted your girlfriend multiple times."

"If my boyfriend said this after somebody literally told the whole world they HATED ME I’m leaving him," read another comment.
