NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: Kansas City sports anchor and reporter, Adan Manzano, tragically died on Wednesday, February 5, while covering the Super Bowl for Telemundo KC and Tico Sports in New Orleans.

 

His death comes just one year after his wife, Ashleigh LeeAnn Boyd, described as "the most kindest person," was killed in a car crash on April 11, 2024. The couple leaves behind their young daughter, Eleanor, who is now without both parents.



 

Kansas City announces death of 'rising star' Adan Manzano

In a heart-wrenching post shared on Telemundo Kansas City’s Facebook page, the network mourned the loss of rising star Adan Manzano.

The message began, "We are sorry to share that Adan Manzano, reporter and sports anchor for Telemundo Kansas City died yesterday in New Orleans while on assignment to cover the Super Bowl for Telemundo KC and Tico Sports. We are cooperating with authorities as they investigate this tragic event."

 

The post praised Manzano's career, stating, "Adan was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work. We will deeply miss Adan, his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community."



 

The network extended its condolences, saying, "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time."

 

NOLA reported that Manzano died in a hotel in Kenner, Louisiana, just outside of New Orleans. The autopsy has been completed, but the cause of death is still pending further test results.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas honored Adan Manzano on X, stating, "Adan was so young and full of energy, and truly covered almost every event in the community. So very sad to see this news. My condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues."



 

In the wake of Adan Manzano’s death, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City has expressed its deep sorrow.

 

The statement began, "It is with profound sorrow that we acknowledge the passing of Adan Manzano, a dedicated sportscaster and reporter from Kansas City, who unexpectedly passed away while on assignment covering the Super Bowl."

 

The Chamber extended condolences to Manzano's family, stating, "On behalf of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Adan's family, friends, and colleagues. We stand in solidarity with Telemundo and Tico Sports during this difficult time. Adan's contributions to our community will always be remembered, and his legacy will continue to inspire us."

 

The statement also highlighted Manzano’s career: "Adan was a cherished sports broadcaster at Telemundo Kansas City. At just 27 years old, his vibrant presence and passion for sports deeply touched the lives of many in our community."

 

It continued, "Adan's commitment to his craft and his ability to connect with viewers made him a beloved figure in Kansas City. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious, and he brought a unique energy to every broadcast."

 

The post concluded by emphasizing Manzano's impact: "Adan's work not only informed but also inspired many, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of watching him. A devoted father, a friend to many. We will always remember Adan's energy and his smile."

Who was Adan Manzano?

Adan Manzano was born in Mexico City and moved to Topeka, Kansas, in 2018, earning his degree at Kansas State University before joining the Chiefs Television crew as a sideline reporter at the start of the previous NFL season. Manzano was poised to cover the Super Bowl for the third consecutive year.

 

In the previous season, he took great pride in bringing the game of football to a Spanish-speaking audience, as per People.

Manzano shared, "The Kansas City Chiefs are growing so fast in Mexico City. Bringing that to the Spanish community because the Hispanic and Latinos — they’ve supported soccer culturally and historically, but there’s always a space where football can be the favorite sport. That’s why I think it’s important."
