Katy Perry admits ‘last year was pretty tough’ after Orlando Bloom split and album flop
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Katy Perry has opened up about the “pretty tough year” after Orlando Bloom split and the failure of her last album ‘143’ during an appearance on Justin Tranter's ‘Unfamous’ podcast.
The singer also faced scrutiny for her “cringeworthy” choreography on her ‘The Lifetimes Tour’ as well as her space journey on Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin rocket.
Katy Perry says she's ready to move on while learning from the past
Now, through her latest single — ‘Watch It Burn’ — Perry has been “wrestling with my darkness”.
“But last year was pretty tough. I have not given myself permission to be angry my whole life over things I should be f*****g angry about,” she explained to the host.
The ‘Dark Horse’ hitmaker continued, “What I've done is I've pushed it down, but I should be f*****g angry. I'm allowed to be angry for a f*****g moment!” She added, “Instead of falling into ‘woe is me’, I was just like, let's feel this f*****g pain. Let's feel this pain, let's feel this anger and let's move on – and let's learn from it, also.”
Katy Perry feels Justin Trudeau has anchored her life
The honest revelation from Perry came days after she and her new beau, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, made their first red carpet debut at the New York City premiere of the ‘Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour’ concert film on June 8.
During the event, the mother-of-one called Trudeau “love of my life” as she reportedly gushed, “I am very in love. Actually, that show was after I met the love of my life, and so I felt very anchored by that.”
“Because I'm a little bit like a rainbow kite. I fly super high and like, you know, touch the veil, cosmos, and sometimes I need to be anchored. So, to have that anchor finally makes me feel really whole now,” she stated.
The TV personality also shared some positive points to live by and how she feels in a good space now.
“Every day is a fantastic journey, and every day is a chance to evolve, and to be a better person and do the right thing and to be a model for your community, for your family, for your world. I feel like a more grounded person in so many aspects of my life,” she added.
Katy Perry says she 'walked through the fire'
At the premiere, Perry also reflected on her tough times following her breakup from Bloom, with whom she shares a daughter named Daisy Dove Bloom.
“I walked through the fire because everybody has to walk through their own fire, and if you're walking through hell, you keep going because on the other side of hell is definitely heaven,” she noted.
