ST LOUIS, MISSOURI: Clinton Gain, the father of 16-year-old Kaylee Gain from St Louis, has come forward with revelations about the lead-up to a brutal school fight that left his daughter fighting for her life.
Kaylee's father tells how he and his wife searched through their daughter's phone to understand the events leading up to the brutal argument.
Kaylee Gain and Maurnice DeClue had been fighting for weeks
The altercation, which occurred near Hazelwood East High School, resulted in Kaylee sustaining severe injuries, including a skull fracture and frontal lobe damage, after being repeatedly struck by Maurnice DeClue, a 15-year-old fellow student. According to Gain, the altercation stemmed from weeks of insults and threats exchanged between the victim and suspect, culminating in a planned confrontation.
"They both agreed to the fight, to meet up and settle what was going on," Gain disclosed. Despite assertions from DeClue's family that she was defending herself, Kaylee's family maintains that both parties were equally involved in the exchange of hateful messages and threats.
Since the incident, Kaylee has been on a slow road to recovery, with her father describing her progress as "some days are better than others." "She'll ask us why she is there in the hospital," Gain claimed. "She doesn't remember the fight or a few days before it. We told her what happened, but not too much," she said.
In Hazelwood East High School, the district who won a DEI award in 2022 and the school where students beat a girl who’s now in critical condition, just 5% of students are proficient in Math and just 21% in reading.

Kaylee Gain's family calls for justice after brutal school fight
Kaylee is unable to walk unassisted and experiencing memory lapses regarding the altercation. "It's been really hard. It's very slow," he said. "When she gets out of the hospital, she's going to live with me, it's already been decided. She needs that stability and structure again," reports Daily Mail.
The aftermath of the attack has sparked legal proceedings, with Kaylee's family advocating for DeClue, who is in custody, to be tried as an adult. While DeClue's family "wants to apologize" to the victim and expresses a desire for reconciliation, Kaylee's family remains steadfast in their pursuit of "justice through the legal system." However, they urge other teenagers not to retaliate against the alleged attacker.
