LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kim Kardashian has ignited a backlash among fans of the royal family by wearing the late Princess Diana's antique amethyst cross necklace.

The 44-year-old paired the piece with a low-cut white gown at the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday, November 2.

At the event, Kim Kardashian donned a dress with a plunging neckline, complemented by a symbolic piece of jewelry.

The Attallah Cross, belonging to Naim Attallah, the ex-CEO of the British luxury brand Asprey, was notably donned by Diana, Princess of Wales, at a Birthright charity gala in 1987.

Known for her daring fashion choices, Diana paired the cross with a strand of pearls and a velvet evening gown featuring an Elizabethan ruff collar designed by Catherine Walker. She frequently borrowed the Attallah cross pendant from Garrard, the royal jeweler of that era.

Kardashian acquired the item at a Sotheby's auction in London in January 2023 for $200,000, soon after drawing attention for donning Marilyn Monroe's 'Happy Birthday Mr President' dress at the Met Gala in 2022, according to Sky News.

Kardashian disclosed that she had lost 16 pounds to fit into the Swarovski-encrusted Jean Louis gown from 1962, which she borrowed from Ripley's Believe It or Not.
