LONDON, ENGLAND: King Charles attended the UK’s annual Remembrance Day service on November 11, with several working royals including Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, Prince Edward, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, by his side.

However, Queen Camilla was noticeably absent due to her recovery from a chest infection, which led to speculation about the monarch's body language during the solemn event, as reported by Cheatsheet.com.

Body language expert Darren Stanton, often referred to as the "Human Lie Detector," analyzed the king's demeanor at the service and described him as looking like a "fish out of water."

According to Stanton, King Charles appeared uncomfortable and "lost" without his wife, Camilla, who is often his pillar of support during public events. "Charles looks like a lost sheep without Camilla," Stanton said, pointing out that the king’s body language suggested he was actively searching for her, despite her absence.

"He looks genuinely happy to be at the Royal Albert Hall, but without Camilla, he feels as if half of him is missing."

Stanton observed that King Charles exhibited signs of self-reassurance and unease, such as locking his hands in front of him, a gesture often linked to feeling internally unsettled.

He said, “King Charles’ key gestures are to do with when he’s not feeling confident, when he’s a little unsure of himself or when he’s looking for Queen Camilla. He tends to get a little stressed when Camilla isn’t in his eyeline because she gives him a lot of strength.”

Why was Queen Camilla absent from Remembrance Day event?

Camilla has appeared at the Cenotaph event almost every year since she married King Charles in 2005, and the few exceptions were when the couple were on royal tours.

Queen Camilla was notably absent from the event amid her recovery from a chest infection. She withdrew from all royal engagements for the past week and weekend due to her ongoing illness.

In a statement on November 9, Buckingham Palace announced that the Queen would not be joining the royals at key Remembrance events.

“Following doctors’ guidance to ensure a full recovery from a seasonal chest infection, and to protect others from any potential risk, Her Majesty will not attend this weekend’s Remembrance events," the statement read.

"While this is a source of great disappointment to The Queen, she will mark the occasion privately at home and hopes to return to public duties early next week," it added.

Princess Anne supports King Charles in Camilla's absence

Stanton pointed out that although Camilla couldn’t attend the events, another influential woman in King Charles' life, his sister Princess Anne, was present to offer "support."

“Princess Anne is there to support Charles and her presence helps ease this discomfort he feels without Camilla. So much so, that to an extent, he still appears his usual jovial self, cracking jokes while engaging with other guests,” Stanton shared.

“He still shows a willingness to take part and be present, but he clearly feels a little out of sorts without Camilla. He’s smiling here but there’s a notable hint of sadness that Camilla isn’t able to join him,” he concluded.

Kate Middleton displays 'sad but regal' body language at Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday

Kate Middleton made a poignant appearance at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday, marking her first major public event since revealing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Body language expert Judi James, speaking to Daily Mail on November 10, observed that the Princess of Wales carried herself with remarkable composure, blending sadness with an air of regal dignity as she honored those lost to war.

James noted that Kate’s expression at the service was “somber yet stoic,"

"Kate’s body language and even her styling today showed a return to what looked like full regal form," James explained, praising the Princess's ability to balance her personal emotions with her royal responsibilities.

"Her facial expression became somber once we heard the chimes of Big Ben, and there was a more contained version of her clearly emotional signaling that we saw at the concert the evening before."

Kate had attended the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday with Prince William, where she appeared visibly tearful. However, James emphasized that at the Cenotaph, the Princess presented herself with a "fiercely regal" demeanor, reflecting on the occasion with calm reflection.

Her choice of attire, which included a military-style jacket, epaulets, a velour bow, and dramatic headwear, amplified her commanding presence.
