King Charles welcomes George and Amal Clooney to palace years after they defended Harry and Meghan Markle

LONDON, UK: George and Amal Clooney were invited to Buckingham Palace by King Charles on Wednesday, June 25, years after the couple supported Prince Harry and Meghan Markle via a public statement.
The couple, who are supporters of The King’s Trust, met with the monarch to celebrate the winners of the King’s Trust and TK Maxx and Homesense Awards, as reported by HOLA!
The award ceremony, however, will be held on June 26 at the Royal Festival Hall.

The King’s Trust supports 'young people from disadvantaged communities'
It has been said that the charitable organization, founded in 1976 and formerly called the Prince’s Trust, helps “young people from disadvantaged communities and those facing the greatest adversity by supporting them to build the confidence and skills to live, learn and earn.”

The royal family's social media accounts posted a photo from the event. They wrote in the caption, “Today, our King’s Trust Award winners and Celebrity Ambassadors had the honour of attending a special reception with our Royal Founding President, His Majesty The King, at Buckingham Palace.”

“This memorable event celebrated their remarkable achievements ahead of tomorrow’s award show. 🏆 The awards honour those who The Trust has supported, and those who mentor them, in the UK and across the world,” the caption read.
Amal Clooney been associated with King’s Trust since 2019

While Amal looked stunning in a black off-the-shoulder dress featuring bow details for the event, her actor husband chose a grey suit.
She has been an ambassador for the trust since 2019, and an award named the "Amal Clooney Award" was also launched at the time to honor young women’s achievements.
The human rights activist had said at the time, “I am honoured to have been invited by Prince’s Trust International to participate in this global initiative celebrating young women who are change-makers in their communities.”
“It is a privilege to be able to play a part in a project that will draw attention to incredible young women who are the future leaders of our world,” she added.
This year, 19-year-old Alice has won the "Amal Clooney Award" after she “turned a traditional Kenyan craft into a lifeline to support her family and to enable other girls in her community to forge a livelihood.”
George Clooney slammed British media while supporting Meghan Markle

Meanwhile, though the Clooneys share a good relationship with King Charles, George had publicly defended the monarch's estranged daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle, in 2019.
The Oscar-winning star had claimed that the former actress was “vilified and chased” by the media just like the late Princess Diana, as reported by The Guardian.
He also shared at the time, “I do want to say, they’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere. She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant, and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was, and it’s history repeating itself.”
