Late Anna Cardwell's mother Mama June helps granddaughter Kaitlyn get ready for 'first grownup dance'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Mama June' Shannon is certain that her granddaughter knows how much she is loved with a charming Instagram slideshow featuring her 11-year-old Kaitlyn getting ready for her first dance.

June, 44, stated that late daughter Anna 'Chickadee' Cardwell's daughter Kaitlyn was preparing for her "first grownup dance," about five months after Anna passed away at the age of 29.

The 'Mama June: Family Crisis' star posted a series of pictures on her Instagram account on Friday, April 26, with the 11-year-old grinning while posing in a sparkling blue frock.

In some pictures, Kaitlyn was joined by June and her spouse, Justin Stroud, who stood proudly beside her.

"These are the times and moments I wish @annamarie35 was still here to help her get her dress and get her ready and all but @officialsmallz1 and her finds out how to do her hair like she wanted and she was excited to go to her first grownup dance," June wrote in the caption.

June mentioned that Kaitlyn was wearing a necklace that appeared to be inherited from Anna, saying that Kaitlyn "has a piece of her mama with her around her neck at the dance."

June continued, "She was excited to go to her first grownup dance but she has a piece of her mama with her around her neck at the dance I hope she has a amazing time she is her mama made over for real."

Similar feelings were expressed by Stroud in his caption, which said, "These are the moments that I wish @annamarie35 was here for but I know she is looking down smiling right now. I think we made her first middle school dance a success."

Besides Kaitlyn, Anna was also the mother of Kylee, 8, whom she shared with her ex-husband Michael Cardwell. The identity of Kaitlyn's father is still unknown, per PEOPLE.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in March 2024, June claimed "Kaitlyn currently lives with me and Justin [Stroud]. Then, Kylee, she lives with her biological father, but we all knew that. People will see that also probably they're talking about the situation as the season goes along."
