Mama June shares Anna 'Chickadee' Cardwell's daughter Kaitlyn's living arrangement amid custody battle
ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Mama June Shannon has recently given an update on where her granddaughters Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Kylee Madison have been living ever since the untimely death of their mother Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell in December.
Since the death of Anna, Mama June has been locked in a custody battle with Anna’s ex-husband and Kylee’s father Michael Cardwell. Kaitlyn’s father has, however, no involvement in her life.
Mama June shares updates about Kaitlyn and Kylee
Recently, the reality TV star spoke to People where she shared that Kaitlyn is currently residing with her following the death of Anna after suffering from stage four adrenal carcinoma.
Mama June told the news outlet, "Kaitlyn currently lives with me and Justin [Stroud]," referring to her husband whom she married in March 2022.
The ‘Mama June: Family Crisis’ star further added, "Then, Kylee, she lives with her biological father, but we all knew that," and continued, "People will see that also probably they're talking about the situation as the season goes along."
The 44-year-old is documenting Anna’s health struggle through the reality TV show ‘Mama June: Family Crisis’.
Anna is survived by her two daughters and her latest husband Elridge Toney.
Anna wanted to be remembered by her daughters
Toney revealed in December what Anna’s last wish was. During that time, he shared with People that they bade farewell to each other just a day before Anna’s death on December 9.
He said, "The day before she passed, we had our talk and said our goodbyes.”
He also shared Anna’s last wish and said, "Her dying wish was for her girls to grow up knowing who their mother was. And I promised I would do right by the girls always. I will spend my life doing right by Anna and the girls."
Toney further added, “Those are my girls,” before adding, “I promised Anna I would do right by them and make sure they remembered their mama. And that is what I will do.”
Mama June and Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efird discussed custody situation
Just a few days ago, in an episode of the reality show, Mama June was seen discussing with her other daughter Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efrid the custody situation.
In the episode that was shot when Anna was undergoing treatment in the hospital, Efrid and Mama June discussed the custody concerns, per OK! Magazine.
Pumpkin initiated the discussion and told her mother, "The cancer part wouldn't be so bad if she would just fix the stuff that needs to be fixed, get her affairs in order, and then we'd all be able to just hang out and worry about spending time with her.”
Mama June replied, "She's in the reality that Eldridge, just because they're married, he's going to get the rights, but that's not the case.”
"She says she wants Eldridge to adopt Kaitlyn, but when that time comes and Eldridge says something about it, she kind of hesitates," added the mother of four.
Pumpkin replied, "This is Anna's fight that we're all helping her out with. I can't sign Kaitlyn over to nobody. You can't sign Kaitlyn over to nobody. It's the fight that Anna needs to continue to f------ fight."
Since Anna’s death, Mama June has been locked in a custody battle with Kylee’s father, Michael Cardwell. Though he has been awarded the custody of Kylee, he is fighting for the legal custody of Kaitlyn.
In his petition, he claimed that while June’s presence in Kaitlyn’s life has been “inconsistent,” he “has been a stable and consistent part of the minor child's life since she was eight months old and has continued to do so even after years from his divorce from Anna," per OK! Magazine.
