WASHINGTON, DC: Fox News host Laura Ingraham called out Vice President Kamala Harris for the global stock market meltdown on Monday, August 5, during her monologue on 'The Ingraham Angle.'

Her remarks were in line with those of former President Donald Trump, who had branded the tumble "Kamala Crash."

Ingraham echoed the GOP nominee in stating that Harris' campaign could not cover up her record in the Biden administration, and that getting Trump back into the White House was the only solution to the declining economy.

Why did stocks plummet on August 5, 2024?

The July job reports which were released last week were weaker than expected, reported Fox Business on Monday.

According to the Labor Department, only 114,000 workers were added to the economy in July while the unemployment rate stood at 4.3%, the highest since October 2021. This stoked fears of recession, which resulted in US stocks taking a dive on Monday morning. Global markets, especially in Asia and Europe, declined as well.

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote about the incident, "Of course there is a massive market downturn. Kamala is even worse than Crooked Joe. Markets will NEVER accept the Radical Left Lunatic that DESTROYED San Francisco and California, as a whole. Next move, THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024! You can’t play games with MARKETS. KAMALA CRASH!!!"

While there has been no indication that Harris replacing incumbent Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket for the 2024 election was in any way tied to the stocks going down, the GOP went ahead with the line of attack as it tied her with Biden's policies.

Laura Ingraham's comments in the aftermath of market meltdown

"Those losses we saw today, those are not delicacies, and even if inflation and this downturn doesn't hurt Kamala's mega-wealthy celeb donors like Clooney or Julia Louis-Dreyfus, it's hurting the poorest Americans the hardest. More Americans say they can't save for a rainy day," Ingraham stated in her monologue for the day.

"More Americans say they can't buy a starter home. More Americans are wondering if they're ever going to be able to retire. So, whether today signals a longer period of US decline, look, only time is going to tell that," she continued.

"But regardless, Kamala Harris is a co-partner in the calamity cruelly foisted on America, where we blow hundreds of billions of dollars on Ukraine, hundreds of billions of dollars on illegals, make our abundant energy supplies more expensive, and in the end, make us all poorer in the process."

As a way out of economic turmoil, Ingraham shared a ringing endorsement of GOP nominee Trump, claiming, "The only shot we have, the only shot at really returning prosperity to the middle-class for a more prosperous, safer country is by choosing the guy who did it once before."

Internet slams Laura Ingraham for promoting Trump as a solution

Netizens reacting on the social media platform X did not buy into her claim that Trump would help alleviate the economic situation of the middle class. The following tweets demonstrate the prevalent take.

"Prosperity for the middle-class? Sounds like a great plan! Let's hope it's not just another political promise," wrote a user.

"Translation: This is the only shot we have at making rich people richer," jibed another.

"Yes and that’s Trump staying away from the presidency," chided a third.

"The GOP has no intention of implementing policies to help the middle class...they can talk all they want, but actions over the last 50 years spell out very clearly that they represent the corporations and 5%'erst. Transfer of wealth to the 5% from the 95% have been huge," stated a fourth user.

"Yes if there is anyone that understands the middle class, it’s the guy who begs poor people for money while standing in his jumbo jet en route to his palace in Florida. This is the only shot we have people," sarcastically stated a fifth.

"Doom and Gloom scare tactics is literally all the GOP has stood on for 6 years. No policy, just attack and complain," quipped yet another.
