TUCSON, ARIZONA: Conservative activist Laura Loomer weighed in on the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of 'Today' show host Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing since January 31.

The disappearance has prompted an ongoing investigation involving federal and local authorities. Nancy’s whereabouts remain unknown as authorities continue to actively pursue leads, including questioning a detained individual and reviewing newly recovered surveillance footage.

Laura Loomer links kidnapping to illegal immigration

Loomer commented on the case in a post on X, where she shared her assessment of the situation. “I’m from Tucson. My assessment of the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping is that she was likely kidnapped by an illegal alien."

Referencing crime in the area, she wrote, “There are so many illegal alien robberies. The people who kidnapped her look like they have very Hispanic features under the mask. Everyone knows it.”

Loomer has previously referred to illegal immigrants as “aliens” in her posts. In a separate post criticizing Bad Bunny’s halftime show, she wrote, “Illegal aliens and Latin h**kers twerking at the Super Bowl." She further said, "Not a single white person or English translation at the Super Bowl. This isn’t White enough for me.” Loomer finished her post by adding, “Can’t even watch a Super Bowl anymore because immigrants have literally ruined everything.”

Loomer has been a vocal supporter of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration and has expressed strong backing for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). She also celebrated the detention of British journalist Sami Hamdi last year after he was taken into custody by ICE following criticism of Israel during a speaking tour in the US.

“You’re lucky his only fate is being arrested and deported,” she wrote, branding him “a supporter of HAMAS and the Muslim Brotherhood”.

FBI releases footage, detains suspect in case

The FBI on Tuesday, February 10, released images and two short videos of a masked individual near Nancy's home. The newly recovered material is now part of the active investigation.

“As of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement on X.

Patel stated that authorities had been working to recover images from the home surveillance system that “may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors - including the removal of recording devices.”

Savannah also shared the new video on Instagram, urging the public to help identify the individual, “Someone out there recognizes this person.” She further said, “We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”

Authorities also detained a person for questioning during a traffic stop south of Tucson, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. The department and the FBI also conducted a court-authorized search of the detainee’s home.
