LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Liam Payne was pouring his heart into helping others in the days leading up to his tragic death at just 31.

The singer — known for his time with One Direction — spent his last nights donating to GoFundMe accounts, especially those supporting sick kids. He even encouraged his fans to follow his lead through a series of Snapchat videos. Liam was inspired by his seven-year-old son Bear and couldn’t stand the thought of children suffering.

“I’ve always felt lucky for the position I’m in," he told his followers. "My life aspiration was to be a superhero but I can’t fly, I’m not a great mechanic, I wasn’t affected by radiation, and I’m not incredibly strong."

"All I know is that there are websites out there to donate to sick children that need your help. It doesn’t matter how small or how big the donation is, all that matters is you looking into that child’s eyes," Liam added.

The crooner was found dead on Wednesday, October 16, after he fell from a third-floor hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Being a dad hit Liam Payne hard when he saw what some of these kids were going through.

“As a father, it hits me slightly differently because I look at them and if that was my child, I’d want everyone in the world to look at me and help me," he said in another video. "And so the last few nights, I’ve been spending some time on GoFundMe, a fantastic website.”

Liam revealed that he had been topping up donations, helping charities get closer to their goals, and making sure kids got the care they desperately needed, per Daily Mail.

He shared, “I’ve been going on night by night to finish off people’s donations to make sure they get the operations they need. I can’t not look at a sick child and not see Bear. I can’t and I won’t, so when I see one I can help out with, I’m there and I’m ready to go.”

Liam talked about a four-year-old girl needing multiple brain surgeries. He couldn’t help but see his son in her. “I remember when my boy was four, he’d just about learned to walk without holding on to the sides of things," he said, fighting back tears. "My heart goes out to you; there are so many people suffering in this world.”

Liam Payne expressed deep love for son Bear

Liam Payne’s love for his son Bear was clear in his final months. He had Bear with his ex Cheryl Cole back in March 2017. Though they split the following year, Liam always made time for his little boy.

Earlier this year, he shared a rare snap of Bear looking up at a billboard promoting his new music. He captioned it: “I want to be on a billboard one day daddy.”

And just a few weeks later, Liam shared a touching video of him and Bear walking through a park. The clip shows Liam holding Bear’s hand and then playfully ruffling his son’s hair, with the caption: “Bear is so tall,” followed by a teary-eyed and a bear emoji.

Celebrating his 31st birthday in August, Liam couldn’t stop gushing about Bear: “I’m going to speak to my son in a little bit, which I’m really excited about. Bless him. He’s getting so big now. He’s a big boy and he looks like a mini-me. As if we needed any more me in the world.”

Both Liam and Cheryl mostly kept Bear out of the public eye, but the singer spoke about his son with so much pride.

In a 2022 interview with People, he said that Bear looks at him like “a superhero.” He shared, “I see him two times a week, three times a week sometimes. And I make sure when I see him, he has 100 percent of my time. I make sure that I’m not on my phone or dicking around somewhere else.”

Liam added, “So, I like to give him those moments, and it’s important. He needs that in his life. He needs his dad in his life, and I’m happy he looks at me like a superhero, and I’m hoping to keep it that way."
