BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA: Liam Payne’s sister, Ruth Gibbins, has broken her silence following the singer’s tragic death at the age of 31.

Payne died on Wednesday evening, October 16, after falling several stories from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Ruth Gibbins shared an emotional tribute to her brother on Instagram, accompanied by several images of herself and Payne, including moments from her wedding day and other cherished memories with their family.

"I don't believe this is happening… Liam is my best friend, no one could ever make me laugh as much as him," Gibbins began, adding, "He loved doing impressions and seeing how much of a laugh he could get."

In her tribute, Gibbins reflected on Payne’s determination to pursue his dreams from a young age, explaining how he moved out of their family home at the age of 17 to compete in the UK talent show 'The X Factor' which eventually led to him joining the globally successful boy band One Direction.

"Liam loved 1D," wrote Gibbins, referring to his deep affection for his bandmates, whom she called his "brothers."

Throughout his music career, Payne remained close to his sister who revealed that the two would often talk through his challenges.

"He knew he could call me anytime," she shared.

Ruth Gibbins went on to express her pride in her brother’s accomplishments, but also spoke about the struggles he faced in his later years.

"You never believed you were good enough," she wrote, addressing the challenges Payne encountered with self-doubt.

She shared her hope that he could now see the "outpouring of love" that he had not fully recognized during his life.

Gibbins also highlighted his kindness and ability to make those around him smile, despite his own internal battles.

"Liam just wanted to be loved and to make people happy with his music," she said, adding, "I don't feel this world was good enough or kind enough to you."

Ruth Gibbins' promise to Liam Payne's son Bear

In her tribute, Ruth Gibbins made a heartfelt promise to take care of Payne’s seven-year-old son, Bear, whom he shared with singer Cheryl Cole.

"He will always know how incredible his Dad is and how much you idolized him," she wrote.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save you. Love you, oh how my heart misses you," she shared.

Gibbins signed off with a final plea, "One last time, I need you to know, I'm here if you need anything. I'd drive to the end of the universe to bring you back."

Her tribute came just days after Payne’s family, including his sister Nicola and their parents Karen and Geoff Payne, issued a statement expressing their heartbreak over his tragic death.

The family’s statement described Payne as someone who would "forever live in our hearts," according to People.
