WINDSOR, ENGLAND: King Charles III and first lady Melania Trump seemed to share a lighthearted moment during President Donald Trump's second state visit to the United Kingdom.

According to a lip reader, King Charles' witty comment about Melania’s striking hat sparked laughter and eased the formality of the occasion.

King Charles' lighthearted moment with Melania Trump

According to MetroUK, a lip reader revealed that King Charles turned to Melania Trump with a playful remark about her wide-brimmed purple hat, which looked not easy to handle in the gusty conditions. He joked about the weather and whether Melania's huge hat could handle the wind.

King Charles apparently said, “I do hope the wind doesn’t blow away your hat.”

The amusing comment made Melania chuckle, but she didn't reply.

Apart from the lighthearted joke with King Charles, Melania also shared a short conversation with Kate Middleton. According to the lip reader, the Princess of Wales said, “Your Mackintosh is the same one I am flying, I wear it each time.”

Melania replied, “I know, it’s exceptional and such a comfort. Sometimes I wear it to the house. Sometimes when I come I don’t want to go back.”

The exchange hinted at a friendly rapport between the two women during the formal event.

On the first day of meeting with the royals, Melania Trump turned heads in a tailored black military-inspired skirt suit paired with a dramatic, wide-brimmed purple hat.

The striking look undoubtedly set the tone for her formal meeting at Windsor Castle.

On the other hand, Trump chose a classic navy suit paired with black leather shoes and his trademark American flag pin. But rather than his go-to bold red tie, he caught attention by switching things up with a purple one.

The first couple's visit on September 17 was celebrated with all the pomp and grandeur of a full royal ceremony. Trump, who became the first US president to be granted two state visits, was welcomed by the British military at Windsor Castle with a display involving 1,500 troops and more than 150 horses.

There was also a lavish State Banquet in the evening, attended by prominent names, including Rupert Murdoch, Princess Anne, and the US ambassador to the UK Warren Stephens.

For the banquet, Melania wore a yellow floor-length Carolina Herrera gown, which she accessorized with a lilac belt and emerald earrings, while the POTUS opted for a traditional white tie tuxedo.
