Lizzie Cundy slams ex-pal Meghan Markle’s hospital charity gala appearance, says it was just ‘photo-op’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle’s ex-friend Lizzie Cundy accused the Duchess of Sussex of making her recent hospital charity gala appearance "all about herself".

Talking to GB News on Saturday, October 12, Cundy, who was previously a friend of Markle, 43, made a few scathing remarks about the royal. 

Cundy, 56, and Markle were reportedly friends after they met at a charity gala in 2013. However, Cundy went on to claim later that the duchess had “ghosted” her after meeting Prince Harry.

Former friends Meghan Markle and  Lizzie Cundy, whose friendship started at a charity gala, came close to bumping into each other again at last week’s LA Children's Hospital gala. However, as per reports, they narrowly missed meeting each other. 

While Markle’s side of the story is unknown, Cundy did not leave the gala with pleasant feelings for her former friend, per Daily Mail.

Speaking to the outlet, she sarcastically, “I bet she was delighted to see me!”

Cundy, known for her ‘Red Carpet Uncut’ show, further added that she felt Markle was there just for herself and “photo-op".

“It's the event to be seen at. I was hoping she would do something for the charity, maybe do a speech, but it appeared she was just there for the photo-op,” added the former wife of British footballer Jason Cundy. 

She added, “She wasn't there for that long - there was a funny point where a lady asked for a selfie and her face looked like she'd swallowed a wasp.”

“She needs LA but LA has had enough of her. She's cooked a goose there,” continued Cundy, before adding caustically, “She makes it all about herself.”

The former WAG did not miss to add that while the charity “does great work,” the wife of Prince Harry “made it all about Meghan".

Per Daily Mail, the pair ultimately avoided meeting each other as Cundy was seated at the top table, and the duchess was surrounded by her security team.

Lizzie Cundy earlier opened up about her Meghan Markle friendship

This is, however, not the first time that Lizzie Cundy opened up about her friendship with Meghan Markle.

During another appearance on GB News, the actress claimed she had previously tried to get Meghan a role in the reality show ‘Made in Chelsea’. 

Speaking to Nana Akua, Cundy said, “I was friends with Meghan for a while and I really got on with her. I was asked by a friend to look after her at a charity event and I thought, 'Who is this woman?' No one actually knew who she was.”

Cundy continued, “She wanted a boyfriend and wanted to get on to the showbiz scene and wanted a job in British TV, and wanted to be 'Made in Chelsea', actually, the show.”

“So I said, 'Look, if I can help you I will,' which I tried to do. I tried to hook her up with Ashley Cole, actually, the former Chelsea player, but she wasn't his type,” noted the actress. 

She continued, “I said I'd try and hook her up with a few guys, she wanted to stay in Britain. She wanted a British boyfriend. So she got that one in the end and won the lottery.”

Upon meeting Prince Harry, Cundy claims she was “ghosted” by Meghan.
