MIDWEST UNITED STATES: A massive storm system tore through the Midwest on Thursday, March 14, spawning a series of powerful tornadoes that left a path of destruction across Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.

Entire communities were left reeling as the violent twisters shredded homes, toppled trees, and knocked out power to thousands of residents. Shocking images and videos emerged, capturing the sheer force of nature as the tornadoes ripped through neighborhoods, reducing structures to piles of debris, as per CBS News.

Schools closed in Winchester city of Indiana

According to reports from the National Weather Service, multiple suspected tornadoes touched down, with some areas experiencing significant damage. In Indiana, the city of Winchester bore the brunt of the devastation, prompting officials to close all schools in the district on Friday, March 15, to assess the extent of the destruction.

"It appears that is the most significant damage that we've had reported to us," Joseph Nield, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, stated, referring to the Winchester area.

Meanwhile, in Selma, Indiana, preliminary assessments revealed that up to half of the town's structures had been damaged by the storm.

Although there were no reports of fatalities, minor injuries were reported, with only one person requiring hospitalization, according to the Delaware County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
