Luke Bryan shares hilarious story of being mistaken for Blake Shelton: 'You're his doppelganger'

TISHOMINGO, OKLAHOMA: Luke Bryan recently shared a hilarious story that proves even celebrities aren’t immune to awkward mix-ups—especially when they're mistaken for fellow country star Blake Shelton.
During a casual fishing trip with his 14-year-old son Tatum "Tate" Christopher, the 'Country Girl' crooner stopped at a gas station to grab some snacks. That’s where things took a comical turn, as per Whiskey Riff.

Luke Bryan says he was mistaken for Blake Shelton during a fishing trip with his son Tate
"Story of the day… me and Tate, we’re fishing," Luke Bryan began, recounting the moment on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
"Stopped by to get some snacks from the gas station. This kind of big guy, tatted up… he’s just staring me down. I’m like, 'Oh yeah. He recognizes me.'"
As Bryan approached the counter, expecting a fan interaction, the man hit him with this gem: "Man, God dude. You look just like Blake Shelton. You’re not Blake Shelton, are you?"
Bryan, known for his sense of humor, didn’t miss a beat. "I said, 'I’m not Blake Shelton.' He goes, 'You gotta get that all the time, right?' I was like, 'No, every now and then I get it,'" the 'Play It Again' singer recalled.
He continued, "He goes, 'You’re his doppelganger. You know who he is? He’s on that TV show.' I said, 'Yeah, I know who he is.' He goes, 'Could you imagine what it would be like to have Blake Shelton’s money'"
As one of country music’s biggest stars, Bryan has certainly done well for himself.
Both he and Shelton were major players in the "bro-country" movement of the mid-2010s, an era of songs filled with pickup trucks, beer, and girls in cutoff jeans.
However, their shared history in that era seemed to have spilled over into their lighthearted rivalry in 2024, rooted in their mutual love of farming.
Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton's friendly feud over tractors
Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton's mostly playful farming feud revolves around tractors.
The 'American Idol' judge, who previously teased the 'God’s Country' singer about his gardening skills, upped the ante by challenging Shelton to a tractor showdown.
In a 2024 exclusive chat with Taste of Country Nights, Bryan made sure Shelton knew the ball was in his court.
"I'm sponsored by Fendt Tractors and he's sponsored by Kubota. Maybe we will have a little tractor pull-off one day," he remarked.

Shelton’s ties to Kubota go beyond a simple sponsorship- his father once sold Kubota tractors, making the connection personal.
The two remain good friends and regularly chat about farming, as Bryan shared, "You know, Blake and I can always have some fun banter back and forth."
