Nicola Coughlan pranked Luke Newton with song from his boy band days

After learning that Newton had formerly been in a boy band, 'Bridgerton' co-star Nicola Coughlan spent three days planning a brilliant practical joke on him. She made arrangements for one of the band's songs to play during a ball scene that was being filmed.

The video, which was posted on Shondaland's TikTok account, showed Newton urging Coughlan to dance before he gradually realizes that everyone on the stage is listening to 'Cougar Town' by Newton's short-lived boy band, South4.

The actor looked red-faced and shook his head as the ensemble cast began dancing and singing to the single, making Newton blush with humiliation.

In the clip, Newton eventually admitted, "So I was in a boy band once. Once upon a time. And that was our song "Cougar Town". So yeah, that's great. I thought it was in my head for a second," per ELLE.
