NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a stunning display of denial, Eric Trump, the second son of former President Donald Trump, boldly claimed that his family had never done anything wrong, prompting a fierce backlash from internet users.

His remarks, made during an appearance on Fox News on Saturday, May 11, flew in the face of a series of legal troubles and controversies that have plagued the Trump clan, as per HuffPost.

During the interview with host Mark Levin, Eric was questioned regarding the criminal hush money trial against his father in New York City. Unfazed by the mounting evidence against the former president, Eric responded with a defiant assertion.

"Well, Mark. A hundred and ten subpoenas in the last seven years. Those are ones that I've received personally. ... I've never gotten so much as a traffic ticket. We're a good family. Never have done anything wrong," Eric claimed.

Eric's assertion that his family has "never done anything wrong" stands in stark contrast to the series of legal troubles and controversies that have plagued the Trumps.

Trump, in the past year alone, has faced multiple legal setbacks, including civil cases for fraud, defamation, and sexual abuse. These cases have resulted in significant financial penalties amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars.

Furthermore, Trump has been criminally indicted four times, facing federal charges related to the mishandling of classified documents and attempts to overturn the 2020 election.

Additionally, he is embroiled in state-level charges in Georgia for election subversion and is presently on trial in New York for allegedly falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments.

In 2018, Trump settled a lawsuit against his now-defunct Trump University for $25 million, following allegations of fraudulent practices. Similarly, in a 2019 settlement, he paid $2 million to eight charities, admitting to misusing funds raised by the Donald J Trump Foundation for personal and political purposes.

Notably, Eric, along with his siblings, was implicated in the mismanagement of the Trump Foundation and was required to undergo mandatory training on charitable governance.

Eric Trump's claims elicit mockery online

Eric's brazen claim about his family immediately triggered a wave of scathing mockery from social media users. One X user quipped, "Trump 101: Lying through your teeth." Another commented, "This family is a curse on America."

A third user suggested, "Guess being delusional is hereditary," while a fourth criticized, "Your family is a bunch of con artists, traitors, crooks, and all around miserable human beings."

A fifth user wrote, "Charles Manson said the same about his family." In a lighter tone, a user joked, "Eric's a great parody account to follow." Another remarked, "Translation: We’er a toxic family. Always do things wrong."

Meanwhile, poking fun at Eric's statement, someone else added, "Okay, so he really is dumber than Lara who thinks there are 81 states in the United States of America."
