Maria Shriver says she's has 'been single my whole 60s'

Shriver reflected on the past decade, noting she had been single throughout her 60s and enjoyed the experience.

“Your 60s are fantastic, and I was single in my 60s,” said Shriver. “I have been single my whole 60s. And now I’m ending my 60s. I loved being single, but other people had a big problem with it," she said on 'Today with Jenna & Friends' on Friday, June 27.

The mother of four explained that while she has been “happily single,” many people around her seemed eager to see her in a relationship.

“I think other people are like, ‘You don’t have a boyfriend yet? What do you think that’s about?’ or ‘What’s wrong? What do you think you’re doing? Are you not open?’” said Shriver.

“I also think people want you to be happy and they want you to have love and they want you to be in a couple," she added as per People.

When co-host Jenna Bush Hager asked whether she was currently “interested in dating,” Shriver responded, “I’m interested in any great love experience.”

Bush Hager pushed further, interpreting the answer as a yes, to which Shriver replied, “That’s a yes. I’m kind of trying to be open and yes to life in all its forms. How about that? I just made that all up.”

The couple separated in 2011 following revelations that Schwarzenegger had fathered a child with their housekeeper. Their divorce was finalized in 2021, and since then, Shriver has not been publicly linked to anyone.

Speaking earlier this month on the 'Jamie Kern Lima Show', Shriver said, "I’m not looking, but I'm open to whatever God sends my way.”
