NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to slam federal government spending in her message for Tax Day on Monday, April 15.

The US Representative for Georgia blamed the low approval rating of the Congress on ignoring border security and rising crime, and instead opting to fund foreign wars in the face of trillions of dollars of national debt.

Social media users, however, were quick to point out that the tax cuts provided by her endorsed presidential candidate, former President Donald Trump, also helped add on to the national debt.

Pointing out April 15 to be Tax Day, Greene wrote in her post, "As Americans pay their hard earned tax dollars to the federal government that has enslaved them in $34.6 Trillion in debt, left us unprotected from a continual deadly border invasion & rampant crime & drugs, and perpetual government policies that are actively destroying our future, Congress returns to send close to $100 billion more to fund foreign wars."

"I will not vote for the never ending America last model of failure that Americans hate and has rightfully given Congress a 13% approval rating," she continued.

"There are winning solutions to all of these problems when Washington remembers who pays for everything and who they took an oath to serve."

Internet reacts to Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene's tweet

Greene's tweet did not go down well with many people online, as the following tweets demonstrate.

"Thanks to Trump’s tax 'cuts,' in 2017, nearly every American EXCEPT THE WEALTHY will pay more in taxes this year than before," a user wrote replying to MTG on X.

"Hey why didn’t you mention the $2,000,000,000,000.00 that Trump gave away to corporations via massive tax cuts?" echoed another.

"Stop giving oligarchs tax breaks and we will quickly pay off our debt," stated a third.

"Trump raised our deficit by 25% how much of my tax dollars are going towards paying back the PPP loans than you didn’t have to pay back?" inquired a fourth.

"Hmmm🤔. Well, last time I checked you ARE a member of Congress Marjorie. Which is a disgrace but that's another story," jibed a fifth user.

"The reason you have a 13% approval rating is because you and the rest of your party are Trump first America last. We the people are sick of it," slammed a sixth.
