Mark Cuban deletes pro-Kamala Harris posts and congratulates Donald Trump

Mark Cuban, known for his outspoken views, had stongly backed Kamala Harris in her 2024 election campaign

However, on election night, Cuban took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate both president-elect Donald Trump and tech mogul Elon Musk, one of Trump’s most influential backers. His tweet at 1.30 am caught many by surprise, as Cuban was among the first high-profile Democrats to openly concede Harris’ defeat.

"Congrats @realDonaldTrump. You won fair and square. Congrats to @ElonMusk as well," Cuban wrote, acknowledging Trump’s lead in key battleground states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona, all of which ultimately went red.

Following the election outcome, Cuban deleted several posts in which he had previously expressed support for Harris. This action quickly became the subject of online debate.

After deleting his posts endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, Mark Cuban faced criticism from social media users. They questioned Cuban’s motivations for erasing his past endorsements. Some viewed it as political opportunism.

One user wrote, "What do you mean, Mark Cuban just conceded on my behalf?"

Another said, "Mark Cuban is back peddling like a circus clown on a unicycle. Sanity won. We the people won. Trump won. The insane Democrat party that you are a simp for, is insane. What does that make you?"

One commented, "What are you gonna do now, Mark?"

"You lost like 90% of your aura from this election," said one.

Another remarked, "I don’t think they are going to invite you to sit at the table, brotha."

Despite the controversy over his deleted posts and shift in support, Cuban’s early acknowledgment of Trump’s victory earned him some praise. Many Trump supporters lauded his "mature response" and gracious concession, with some even suggesting that Cuban’s willingness to acknowledge the election results indicated a level of political integrity.

One said, "Thank you for helping Trump get re-elected."

Another user added, "Said like a true gentleman, Mark! We have to hope they’ll make good decisions for America."

Another added, "Thanks Mark. Very mature response, we still love you."

Mark Cuban responds to backlash, defends deleting posts

In response to the backlash, Mark Cuban defended his actions, explaining that he had a long history of deleting old tweets.

"I've always gone back and deleted tweets... For years. Same with the 2020 election. 2016 election. Same with other stuff," he wrote, emphasizing that he was not trying to hide anything but simply tended to clean up his social media.

Cuban’s political journey has been a winding one. A former Trump supporter, Cuban endorsed the businessman in 2016, but later distanced himself from Trump due to what he called an inability to have productive discussions with the former president.

Cuban has since aligned himself more with Democrats, though his recent actions suggest he is reevaluating his political affiliations.
