LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Republican Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee surprised many by offering words of praise for pop sensation Taylor Swift during a recent appearance on Newsmax.

The discussion touched upon Swift's influence in Tennessee, her home state, and her impact on voters, referencing a past comment where she likened Blackburn to "Donald Trump in a wig."

Marsha Blackburn lauds Taylor Swift

In response to the question posed by Rob Finnerty, Blackburn acknowledged Swift's popularity and talent, expressing joy that the singer chose to establish her empire in Nashville, a key economic hub for the state.

“Senator, I want to ask you about Taylor Swift. So she spends a whole lot of time in your home state of Tennessee, even though she was born in Mississippi. Newsweek had a poll yesterday that found that 18 per cent of voters would actually vote for whoever Taylor Swift told them to vote for. In 2020, in a documentary, she said that you were ‘Donald Trump in a wig.’ How do you respond to that, and what’s your take on the impact she could have in November?” Finnerty asked

Marsha Blackburn says Taylor Swift is 'vert talented'

Referring to Swift as an influencer, Blackburn emphasized the importance of people making decisions based on issues that matter to them during elections.

“Taylor Swift is really a popular, very talented young woman. She has built quite an empire. I am so, so thrilled that she has chosen to base that in Nashville,” Blackburn said.

“She is considered to be an influencer. I think when it comes to elections, people look at the issues that are important to them and they make their decisions. Right now, we know that the border, the open border, the Biden border policy, that is something at the top of the list for so many people. Certainly in Tennessee, the border is issue number one,” Blackburn added.

Marsha Blackburn responds to Taylor Swift's past remark with humor and diplomacy

When Sharla McBride raised the question about Swift's previous comment, Blackburn responded with a touch of humor, stating, "I just shake it off," eliciting laughter from the hosts. The senator remained diplomatic, choosing not to engage in negative discourse.

Swift's recent relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce and his Pfizer ad sparked controversy in right-wing media, leading to unfounded conspiracy theories about the singer.

Despite these speculations, Blackburn's positive comments reflect a diplomatic approach to differing opinions, highlighting the importance of focusing on crucial issues, such as border policies, in the upcoming elections.

Marsha Blackburn's witty response earns online praise

Several users took to social media to commend Senator Marsha Blackburn for her humorous response to Taylor Swift's past comment.

One user wrote, "This is actually the best response I've ever heard from Blackburn. Whoever wrote the joke for her deserves to embezzle from her campaign more."

Another commented, "I think Sen Marsha Blackburn answered well! It makes sense for her not to fight with Taylor Swift, who’s certainly the most powerful woman in Tennessee, and maybe the country! I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but Blackburn is smarter than most other Republicans on this."

One replied, "This is so hard to believe!! All this over a singer dating a Football player what a Joke! These people really need to get a life."

One commented, "“Donald Trump in a wig!”…hahahahaha I am dead !."

"Tay Tay has called her out by name for being a lying fraud. I don't think Marsha's re-election is going to be a walk in the park. Tennesseans are seeing through her, and Gloria Johnson is a worthy opponent who actually cares about people," replied one.
