Viewers raise eyebrows over Meghan Markle’s knife grip
Meghan Markle’s latest Netflix venture, 'With Love, Meghan', was supposed to showcase her hosting expertise and favorite recipes. Instead, it has sparked another debate, especially regarding her knife skills, or lack thereof.
Fans and food enthusiasts took to social media to question her handling of kitchen tools, particularly the way she grips a knife. One X (formerly Twitter) user posted a screenshot of Meghan chopping vegetables, writing, “Why is Meghan Markle holding the knife like that? This woman hasn’t cooked much, has she?”

Criticism of her technique began circulating as early as January when the show’s trailer was first released. Culinary professionals quickly joined the conversation, pointing out that her grip placing her index finger along the spine of the knife is considered improper and unstable.
A YouTube tutorial from the renowned Le Cordon Bleu culinary school highlights the issue, stating that Meghan’s method is “not acceptable.” Chef Jon-Paul Hutchins warned, “This is not stable. The other problem is, the strength in your arm ends up stressing the tendons in the back of your hand. So when you're cutting initially, it won't hurt. But when you're doing it for hours, all of a sudden you’re going to notice a lot of wrist fatigue.”
Michelin-starred chef Tom Shepherd also critiqued her approach, telling FEMAIL, “In the clips, she holds the knife awkwardly, with her fingers too far back on the handle.” He also noted that Markle appeared to be using the wrong knife for the task, which “can make the process inefficient and even dangerous.”
