Meghan Markle’s ‘Suits’ co-star Wendell Pierce reveals the advice he gave before she married Prince Harry
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Meghan Markle received a piece of sweet advice from her onscreen father and co-star Wendell Pierce, on the last day of her filming ‘Suits’.
Before her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, the 42-year-old actress became famous by portraying the role of the paralegal Rachel Zane in the legal drama ‘Suits’.
She, however, retired from acting as she was set to join the British royal family.
Wendell Pierce talks about Meghan Markle
Wendell Pierce played Robert Zane - father to Markle’s character Rachel Zane. Markle created headlines when she left the show before her royal marriage.
Pierce recalled Markle’s final scene on the ‘Suits’ set and shared a story from the last day of Markle’s filming during an interview with Chris Wallace.
In a clip from the upcoming episode of ‘Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?’ obtained by People, the 60-year-old ‘Selma’ actor was seen sharing the tale of Markle’s final scene.
He recalled, “It was the last night of working and I said, ‘Meghan, your life is going to change, and you’re going to be in a bubble, but just always remember, no matter what, I’m your friend — you have lots of friends'."
Pierce, who delightfully showed his admiration for Markle, continued, “‘We’re always thinking about you, we’ll always be there for you. And you know, no matter where you are, always know you have a friend in me'."
He added that the mother-of-two is “wonderful” both as a person and an actress, and said, “She’s the nicest person ever.”
‘The Wire’ actor further added that he knew it for a fact that the Duchess of Sussex “would love to act again".
The character actor further shared his view on the controversies the Duchess often finds herself being subjected to.
Referring to Markle and Harry’s decision to relocate to Montecito, California, after stepping back as working royals in 2020, Pierce said, “Controversy and the life living in the public eye always takes on a life of its own.”
He added that while the public scrutiny is “one of those things that sometimes you can’t control,” he suggested that the royal couple could always “rely on [their] love.”
Suggesting to Meghan, he said, “You love this man. You love your two children.”
Meghan's husband Prince Harry may return to royal duties
Wendell Pierce’s delightful reminiscence comes at the time when a former royal butler shared that Meghan Markle’s husband could return to royal duties after King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer.
As the royal family is battling through several health woes, the 75-year-old monarch’s former butler Grant Harrold, shared Prince Harry may return to some royal duties.
Harrold, who worked for the King when he was Prince of Wales, said to New York Post, “The king has made it very clear that [Harry] is part of his family and always will be part of his family, but as far as the working part goes, that will be something that we will only see over time.”
He even shared, “It is possible that given recent events, with the king not being 100% and he’s now relying on other members of the family, he could ask Harry to take on other duties.”
The former royal staff explained, “Remember, Prince Harry is still a senior member of the royal family — he’s not a working member of the royal family, but he is still very much a member of the family and Counsellor of State, which means he’s able to step in when the king is unable to perform his duties.”
Previously it was reported that while Prince Harry is keen to return as a partially working royal, Markle was said to be "apprehensive" about the idea.
