Megyn Kelly blasts Oprah Winfrey for her 'grossly unethical' interview costing Kamala Harris $1M

CHICAGO, ILINOIS: Megyn Kelly has called out Oprah Winfrey for defending her action by charging $1 million for interviewing Kamala Harris.

While calling her action "highly irregular," the popular podcaster said, “This is grossly unethical,” and explained that “the subject of the interview does not pay for the set/production costs (the interviewer does) and even more shocking when said costs are $1 million. Especially shady when it’s a presidential candidate,” as per Daily Mail.

The news of Winfrey’s production company getting 1 million dollars was first broken by the Chicago Tribune, which slammed the popular host for making the interviewer pay for her employees.

“Frankly, $1 million is not all that much to Winfrey and so we very much doubt that she was seeking any kind of personal payday from her chosen candidate,” Tribune's editorial board wrote in its column.

Winfrey, who initially denied the claim, later clarified “Usually I am reluctant to respond to rumors in general, but these days I realize that if you don’t stop a lie, it gets bigger. I was not paid a dime."

“My time and energy was my way of supporting the campaign. For the live streaming event in September, my production company Harpo was asked to bring in set design, lights, cameras, crew, producers and every other item necessary (including the benches and the chairs we sat on) to put on a live production," she explained.

"I did not take any personal fee. However, the people who worked on that production needed to be paid. And were. End of story," Winfrey added.
