Melania says Trump has little appetite for her honesty but she refuses to sugarcoat it

WASHINGTON, DC: Melania Trump says she does not simply tell her husband what he wants to hear, even when her honesty is not necessarily welcome.

The first lady made the candid admission while discussing President Donald Trump's performance at the United Nations with Fox News on Wednesday, September 23, saying she had already given him her assessment of his address.

Her comments offered a glimpse into how she approaches private conversations with the president, while also describing a demanding second term that she says keeps her focused on several behind-the-scenes projects.

Melania Trump refuses to hold back

Melania was asked about Trump’s UN speech during an appearance on 'Fox & Friends' on Wednesday. Her response began with praise for the president’s performance.

“I told him he had a great delivery. He did very well, and a great speech,” she said.

But Melania then made the more revealing point: she does not change what she thinks simply because Trump may not want to hear it.

“I tell him the truth. Sometimes he doesn’t want to hear it, what I tell him, but that’s okay. I always say the truth,” she said.

Her comments came one day after Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the speech, he discussed US foreign policy, Iran, Ukraine, the United Nations, and other issues before turning attention to Melania’s work with her 'Fostering the Future' initiative.

Trump also singled her out during the address, thanking her for her work and saying she was doing a “great job.”

FLOTUS says Trump keeps working

Asked how she thinks her husband is handling his second term, Melania kept her assessment straightforward.

“He’s doing the best that he can,” she said.

She also described Trump as highly focused and said his workload has remained intense.

“He has a lot on his plate. He works nonstop. He has the most energy than anybody,” Melania said, describing his days as running from morning through evening.

She contrasted that with her own approach to the White House role, saying she is focused on results and chooses carefully where she puts her time.

“I’m very results-focused. I want to achieve,” she said.

Melania pointed to her work on 'Fostering the Future', saying she is now working with the Senate on the 'Fostering the Future Act', which she wants passed to support children in foster care.

She said much of her work happens away from the cameras and suggested her relatively selective public presence does not reflect how much work she is doing.

“You don’t see me everywhere,” she said, while describing herself as working continuously behind the scenes.
