MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN: One notable person missing from former President Donald Trump's grand entrance at the Republican National Convention was his wife, former First Lady Melania Trump.

Continuing to distance herself from the spotlight amid her husband's 2024 presidential bid, the model-turned-real estate mogul's wife avoided appearing alongside her husband at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Monday, July 15, the first day of the convention, as per the New York Post.

The former president was joined by Donald Trump Jr, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Eric Trump, Lara Trump, and Tiffany Trump, among others, as he entered the venue with a bandaged ear after surviving an attempted assassination over the weekend.

Thomas Matthew Crooks fired multiple rounds at Trump minutes into his speech at a Butler, Pennsylvania rally on Saturday.

Donald Trump's last born, Barron Trump, who appeared at a Florida rally last week, was also absent on the first day of the Republican National Convention. Ivanka Trump, who served as a senior advisor to his father during his time in the White House, was also not in attendance.

Unlike earlier years, Ivanka and Melania aren't scheduled to speak at the RNC. The president's daughter has noticeably pulled away from politics since her father's departure from the White House in 2021.

Following the assassination attempt against former President Trump, Melania issued a rare public statement on Sunday. It read, "When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life and Barron's life were on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband."

She was last spotted with her 78-year-old husband on Easter alongside their son, Barron, during a celebration at their luxury Mar-a-Lago residence.

On Day One, the RNC delegates officially declared Trump the Republican presidential nominee for 2024. Right before the announcement, the White House hopeful put an end to months-long speculations by naming Ohio Sen JD Vance as his vice presidential pick.

Internet divided over Melania Trump's absence on Day One of the Republican National Convention

Netizens had differing opinions on why Melania Trump did not accompany her husband during his grand entrance at the RNC. While one group claimed she might be shaken from the attempted assassination, another bunch noted that the ex-president is capable of getting around on his own.

"She’s obviously scared for herself and her son as both didn’t show up," wrote one, while another remarked, "Unlike Biden, Trump can get around on his own. He doesn’t need a handler."

"I been saying Melania isn't on board..She's clearly not standing proudly by her husband's side smiling in any photo op...I bet she isn't in love with the guy," opined a person.

"Seriously? She is probably shaken up still and likely backstage," commented someone else, and an individual added, "After the way the press treated her, why would she appear anywhere near that press grind?"

"Trump doesn't need help with stairs or to be told 'you did such a good job'. His wife is her own woman and knows her husband is competent," stated one more, dissing President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

Another person expressed, "After Saturday I'd bet anything she's with Barron, not letting him anywhere near a public event like this until she absolutely has no choice. You know... she's being a mother."

"It was his moment. She knows when to take a step back," wrote a netizen, defending Melania.
