Meredith Gaudreau asks brother-in-law Matthew to ‘take care of John’ as she shares throwback clip
SALEM COUNTY, NEW JERSEY: Johnny Gaudreau’s widow Meredith shared a throwback video of her brother-in-law Matthew giving an emotional speech during their September 2021 wedding, asking him to “take care of John for me”.

Matthew Gaudreau can be heard saying in the video, “John and myself have been inseparable our whole lives. Any time you saw me, John was right beside me. Any time you saw John, I was following along behind him."
"When we got older and we weren’t together because of hockey, we still took care of each other,” he added.

Columbus Blue Jackets hockey player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew died on August 29 while biking in Oldmans Township, New Jersey, close to their hometown of Salem County.
They were in their hometown to serve as groomsmen in their sister's wedding. Sean Higgins, 43, has been charged with two counts of second-degree vehicular homicide in the deaths of the Gaudreau brothers.

Johnny Gaudreau is survived by his wife and their two children. Meredith is pregnant with the couple's third child.
Their eldest child Noa will be two soon.
Meredith, in a September 20 Instagram post, shared, “I’ve been having a hard time as Noa’s 2nd birthday approaches. She loves watching videos of daddy before bed especially her requests for ‘daddy hockey’ which led me to these videos.”
She continued, “She loves watching him play and cheering for him through the screen. His biggest fan. They loved each other so much. She even has the same freckle as him on her right cheek.”
“And as she approaches turning 2 I have been told their personalities are getting to be more and more similar ❤️ and I can’t wait for that to continue,” Meredith added.
