ROBESON COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA: Mica Miller’s last dialed 911 call was released where she informed authorities of her imminent suicide on April 27. Robeson County officials revealed surveillance footage on Tuesday, May 7, that she had purchased a firearm earlier that day when she took her own life.

According to authorities, Mica made the distressing call stating, "I’m about to kill myself and I just want my family to know where to find me."  Shortly after deputies were dispatched to Lumber River State Park, where they discovered her body as per News Nation.

During a meeting with Sheriff Burnis Wilkins and investigators, relatives of the 30-year-old Myrtle Beach woman were informed of these details. Sheriff Wilkins expressed condolences on behalf of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, stating, “First, let me say on behalf of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office that our sincere condolences are being sent to the family and friends of Mica Miller.” 

Mica had purchased a firearm, a 9 mm Sig Sauer handgun, and ammunition at Dick’s Pawnshop on Mr Joe White Avenue on April 27. Investigators also found a search on her phone for “national park near me,” identifying Lumber River as the closest location. Surveillance footage showed Mica leaving the pawn shop after the purchase.

Mica Miller’s final movements before taking her own life

Surveillance footage from a Ring doorbell captured Miller at 10.13 am departing an apartment on Margarita Drive in Myrtle Beach. She returns to the same location by 11 am.  At 11.38 am another Ring doorbell records her leaving once more. 

She is spotted entering Dick’s Pawn Shop store at 1852 Mr Joe White Avenue in Myrtle Beach at 12.12 pm. By 12.32 pm she is seen on camera purchasing the gun. Two minutes later, at 12.34 pm, Miller's car is captured leaving the parking lot. At 1.27 pm security footage shows Miller entering 41 Grocery & Grill in Mullins, where she obtains directions to Lumber River State Park – a 41-minute drive away. 

At 2.54 pm she makes a calm 911 call from the park's parking lot, inquiring if her phone can be tracked. The operator then asks for her phone number, location, and reason for the call.

According to police, Mica Miller’s husband, John-Paul, moved to Charleston for a sporting event on April 26, a fact corroborated by witnesses. John-Paul’s vehicle was spotted on April 26 using a license plate reader as it drove toward Charleston.

 

Witnesses said John-Paul was in the vicinity of Charleston on April 26 and April 27. A license plate reader saw John-Paul drive back to Myrtle Beach on April 27 at 2:22 pm, using the Highway 17 Bypass as his route.

 Robeson County authorities reported that John-Paul was accompanied by others during his travels to and from the Charleston area.
