The legendary actor dropped a rare Instagram video on Tuesday, March 11—sounding off on the state of the world and taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Michael Douglas re-emerges on social media

Michael Douglas greeted his followers, “Hello friends, I haven’t seen you in a long time.” He continued, “I feel like a bear in hibernation, and I’ve come out, and it’s like a new world out there.”

But the 'Fatal Attraction' star didn't stop there. “We’re allies with the Russians?" he wondered. "I thought they’ve been trying to destroy us for the last 75 years.”

After getting that off his chest, Douglas took a moment to reflect on his career. “Anyway, I just wanna blow my own horn for a second,” he said with a smirk, rocking his signature grey hair, a quarter-zip pullover, and a black T-shirt, Parade reported.

“This year, it is the 50th anniversary of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. written by Ken Kesey—the book, he was the author of—and directed by Milos Forman," he continued. "Lovely movie. If you haven’t had a chance to read the book or see the picture, I would really encourage it.”

Douglas was a producer on the 1975 American psychological drama starring Jack Nicholson. Then, he gave another gem from his filmography some well-deserved love. 'Wonder Boys' turns 25 this year. Shouting out writer Michael Chabon and director Curtis Hanson, he called it “one of my particular favorites and is not seen by that many people.”

“So, if you feel like reading a couple of good books and then seeing a couple of good movies, Cuckoo’s Nest and Wonder Boys couldn’t be worse," he advised.

“Michael Douglas for President," another fan declared, possibly a nod to his role in 'The American President'.

When Michael Douglas commented on 2024 election

Speaking of politics, Michael Douglas had a lot to say when he appeared on 'Real Time' with Bill Maher last November.

When the topic of the presidential election came up, the Oscar winner didn’t hold back about his frustration with how things played out.

“The other thing I just have to share, after Tuesday night, Wednesday morning, [I’m] just so pissed at this razor-thin race,” Douglas admitted. “It was gonna be so close, with all these polls... and it’s a wipeout. I had no idea how that could happen.”

So, how did he deal with it? Golf, of course. “I go down Wednesday morning to play golf just to clear my mind. I go play nine holes, and I get a hole-in-one," he revealed.

Later in the conversation, he touched on the economy, inflation, and what he sees as a major political shift. “The very fact now that we can talk about Republicans as being the party for the people, and we are this elitist party on the left, Democrats, is wild," he noted.

Beyond his rare hot takes and political musings on social media, Douglas has been keeping busy.

Last year, he stepped into the shoes of Benjamin Franklin for Apple TV+’s miniseries 'Franklin'. He also produced and appeared in 'America’s Burning', a documentary tackling the country’s economic divide, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
