WASHINGTON, DC: Monica Lewinsky, author and activist, recently called for the impeachment of Judge Aileen Cannon.

Lewinsky sought her impeachment on the social platform X, formerly Twitter, while expressing her frustration with the handling of former President Trump's classified documents case.

Lewinsky described the situation as "INSANE" while calling for Judge Cannon's impeachment.

In her post, Lewinsky voiced her anger over the indefinite postponement of the case that was originally scheduled to go on trial on 20 May.

"I awakened angry about the documents case in Florida," Lewinsky wrote on X. "It is INSANE that it hasn’t moved forward to trial, and I hope Judge [Aileen Cannon] is impeached," she added.

"IF the documents had been declassified (which they weren’t) then all Trump had to do was xerox them and return originals that were being asked for and explain they were declassified (again, for those in back, which they weren’t)," she wrote as The Hill reported.

Monica Lewinsky's frustration about Donald Trump's classified documents case echoes wider concerns

Cannon has indefinitely postponed the case of the classified document, declining to set a trial date until pretrial motions are addressed.

It is assumed the trial will be pushed after the elections in November. This decision has led to increasing criticism of Cannon's handling of the case, with some accusing her of giving too much deference to Trump.

Lewinsky continued to express her frustration with the situation, suggesting that if it had been an honest mistake to take the documents, Trump should have simply returned them.

"IF it had been an honest (ahem) mistake to take them… just return them — LIKE EVERY OTHER PRESIDENT WHO WAS FOUND TO HAVE CLASSIFIED MATERIALS IN THEIR PRIVATE POSSESSION. (which still would have warranted an investigation but maybe not resulted in a trial,)" she stated.

"The danger and damage done by this judge is mind-numbing," she added.

Internet's varied reaction over Monica Lewinsky's suggestion to impeach Judge Aileen Cannon

Lewinsky's comments have stirred a variety of reactions online. One user on X remarked, "Putting a new meaning to 'justice delayed, justice denied.'"

Another supported Lewinsky, saying, "Oh, honey. She is a shill. And she will be removed from the bench. And will most likely lose her license to practice law. She is pathetic and cringe. YOU are spectacular and AWESOME!!!"

However, not all responses were positive. A critic wrote, "'I awakened angry about the documents case in florida.' That's the first thing you thought of when you woke up? Get some therapy."

Another added, "It's insane that you are still a Democrat operative after what Democrats have done to you. It's also insane that you have the audacity to preach to others with your reputation."

Some users questioned Lewinsky's credibility, with one stating, "Yeah, let’s all listen to the one with zero credibility."

Another pointed out the challenges of impeaching a federal judge, noting, "She might be impeached in the next Congress, but it would still take a 2/3 vote to convict in the Senate to remove her. She's, unfortunately, there for life."

Lewinsky, known for her role in the investigation into former President Bill Clinton in the 1990s, has since become an outspoken anti-bullying activist.

Last year, she penned an op-ed calling for constitutional amendments, including age limits for elected officials and a ban on presidential self-pardons.
