‘Most unfortunate typo’: Fashion magazine’s erroneous post about Chris Evan’s wife Alba Baptista being ‘16’ sparks online buzz

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Social media was abuzz after a famous fashion magazine made an error and mentioned Chris Evans' wife, Alba Baptista's age as 16 years in a TikTok post. This mistake also fueled conversations about the age gap the couple shares.

Evans, popularly known for playing the shield-carrying Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently said that comic book movies deserve more respect for the work that goes into making them.

He asserted that people should appreciate the effort that goes into developing superhero movies.

Error in Chris Evans' wife Alba Baptista's age

Social media went into a frenzy when a screenshot of Vogue Taiwan's TikTok post went viral.

Posted by a user named @nads on X (formerly Twitter), the screenshot highlighted a major goof-up by the fashion magazine regarding Evans' wife, Baptista's age.

The caption in question read, "The newlyweds are here! "Captain America" Chris Ivan, with his 16-year-old wife, appeared sweetly after the Oscar party."

The mention of Baptista's age as 16 stirred up a storm on social media. Baptista, a Portuguese actress famous for her role in 'Warrior Nun', is 26 years old. The apparent typo caused quite a bit of confusion and uproar among social media users.

Many speculated that the magazine might have been trying to emphasize the 16-year age gap between Evans and Baptista but mistakenly labeled the actress' age as 16.

The typo, unfortunately, meant that Evans had married a minor or had a child marriage, which is an offense considering Boston (Massachusetts), where the couple married, raised the legal age for marriage to 18 with no exceptions back in 2022. 

As per the tweet, Vogue Taiwan was covering the couple's debut appearance together at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, which followed their private wedding in Cape Cod in September 2023.

According to People Magazine, several of Evans' Marvel co-stars, including Robert Downey Jr and Chris Hemsworth, as well as actors John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, were spotted at the wedding ceremony.

Following Evans and Baptista's marriage, their 16-year age gap sparked controversy. Age gaps aren't uncommon among Hollywood couples, for example, 'Indiana Jones' actor Harrison Ford and his wife Calista Flockhart share a 22-year age gap and have been going strong since 2010, as per Daily Mail Online.

The typo brought both funny and some serious accusations as well. A user shared a GIF and wrote, "Me reading this."
