RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA: MrBeast, aka James Stephen 'Jimmy' Donaldson, has pushed back against allegations made by a former employee and is seeking to have her lawsuit dismissed.
According to court filings submitted on April 24, the YouTuber, along with his companies MrBeastYouTube, LLC and GameChanger 24/7, LLC, rejected all accusations of misconduct.
The legal filing follows a recent lawsuit brought by former employee Lorrayne Mavromatis. She claims she was removed from her position as a social media manager at Beast Industries after returning from maternity leave. In her complaint, she also outlines what she describes as a longer pattern of unfair workplace treatment tied to gender-related bias and inappropriate behavior.
MrBeast denies gender-bias claims, seeks dismissal of lawsuit
In a new court filing, MrBeast denied allegations that Mavromatis faced retaliation after raising concerns with human resources, along with claims involving emotional distress and violations related to family and medical leave protections.
The filing also challenged her claim that she lost her job because of maternity leave or gender bias. Instead, the company said her departure resulted from a broader business restructuring.
The documents stated that the company was making internal changes due to parts of the business not performing well, and her role was affected as part of that process. It also suggested the lawsuit was filed to attract attention by involving a high-profile YouTube creator.
The company has asked the court to dismiss the case. A spokesperson for MrBeast said, “This complaint is built on false and misleading claims, and we have evidence to show that.”
They added, “There is extensive material, including messages, internal records, and witness statements that directly contradict her allegations. We will not accept attempts to turn this into a financial opportunity through legal action.”
Lorrayne Mavromatis alleges pregnancy pressure and wrongful termination
Lorrayne Mavromatis filed her lawsuit in federal court in North Carolina and also submitted a complaint to the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In her claims, she said she faced unfair treatment connected to her pregnancy and believed she was let go because of it.
She told the AP that she continued working even during childbirth and shortly after. “I was still bleeding, and I just had to show up,” she said, adding that she lost her job less than three weeks after returning from maternity leave.
Mavromatis also described a highly stressful situation during labor, saying she was expected to stay connected to work responsibilities at that time.
In response, the company shared internal records presenting a different account. One Slack message showed Mavromatis informing her team, “I am actually in labor at the hospital as we speak,” on March 31, 2025, while canceling a meeting. A colleague replied that she should not be checking work messages during that moment.
