Jack Nicholson spotted in rare photo as daughter offers glimpse of actor on his 89th birthday
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Legendary actor Jack Nicholson made a rare appearance this week in a birthday tribute shared by his daughter, Lorraine, as he turned 89 on 22 April.
This rare glimpse of the three-time Oscar winner comes just after Lorraine published a sharp essay criticizing Hollywood for being obsessed with social status.
Rare glimpse into Jack Nicholson's birthday celebration
The candid photograph showed the Hollywood icon looking happy in a cozy, art-filled living room as he celebrated his birthday.
Nicholson was seen smiling and clapping while wearing a dark polo shirt and rust-colored pants.
To complement the current image, Lorraine shared another story of a throwback photo featuring a much younger Nicholson sporting a bright red “Drink Coca-Cola” T-shirt and his signature grin while holding a cigar.
“89!!” she wrote on her Instagram Story, providing fans a precious look at the man who was once a regular at Lakers games and Hollywood premieres but now stays out of the public eye.
Jack Nicholson’s bond with children and recent public updates
As one of Nicholson’s six children, the 36-year-old Lorraine remains especially close to her father alongside her brother, Ray. While both siblings initially followed their father’s footsteps into the acting world, Lorraine has transitioned into directing and producing.
This birthday post marks the first visual update on the actor since November, when she shared a family shot captioned “A November to remember.”
Though he has largely vanished from the screen since his last film role in 2010’s 'How Do You Know,' Nicholson did make a surprising and well-received cameo in February of last year during the 'Saturday Night Live' 50th anniversary special to introduce Adam Sandler.
Lorraine Nicholson’s essay on Hollywood’s atmosphere
While celebrating her father, Lorraine also made waves this week with an essay published in W Magazine that aims at the modern entertainment industry.
She offered a sharp perspective on her hometown, stating that “LA has established itself as the status-anxiety capital of the world,” and noted that the relentless pursuit of clout follows industry players “to the grave.”
She added, “It means that when you’re at a party, women won’t peer over your shoulder to see who else has arrived, and men won’t interrupt you in the middle of a story to get a drink.”
Lorraine also spoke out against influencers who document everything for free perks. She wrote that workouts are now the “domain of influencers” who “will exchange Instagram posts for free personal training and an unlimited supply of leggings.”
She pointed out that while social media can get you “reservations at Alba and free trips to Costa Rica — but it will not get you into Guy Oseary’s Oscars party."
