MSNBC's Joy Reid makes headlines with unplanned F-bomb on hot mic while discussing Iran-backed attack
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: MSNBC's Joy Reid found herself inadvertently on a hot mic, using explicit language seemingly about President Joe Biden during a live broadcast on January 29.
The host of 'The ReidOut', known for her left-leaning perspective, unintentionally made the expletive-laden comment while expressing her thoughts on President Biden's speech about the border crisis: "Starting another f*****g war."
Joy Reid's presumed reaction to Iran-backed attack on US base
Reid's remark on the hot mic is presumed to be related to the aftermath of a drone strike by Iran-backed militants on a US base in Jordan.
The attack resulted in the death of three American soldiers and at least 34 other injuries, according to insiders.
While President Biden has not initiated any retaliatory strikes, discussions within his administration are ongoing regarding a potential military response to the situation.
Notably, moments before the hot mic incident, Reid was criticizing Republican leaders who voted against White House policies and then claimed credit for positive outcomes afterward.
Reid highlighted a specific example, stating, “Case in point – addressing what they consider a crisis at the border, with congressional negotiators actively working on a bipartisan deal to link border policy changes with funding for Ukraine.”
“Over the weekend, President Biden said he’s ready to take action if Congress is serious about solving the border issue,” she added.
Reid's mic cut after explicit language
Following this statement, Reid aired a clip of Biden speaking at Columbia, South Carolina on January 28, where he expressed his willingness to address the border situation promptly if Congress successfully passed the bill.
Reid's microphone was cut shortly after she used explicit language, and upon her return to the air, she commented on the Biden clip.
The host gave a quick apology at the end of her show for cursing after she was informed that her remark went live on air.
"Before we go, I just want to apologize very quickly. I was chatting during a clip that was playing, and, you know, we try to keep this show very PG-13, so I just want to apologize to anyone who was listening to my 'behind-the-scenes' chatter. I deeply, deeply apologize for that," she said.
