NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: On the occasion of Christmas, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shared a message on X, saying, “May your holiday season be filled with blessings of health, love and peace and may you enter the New Year with joy, hope and renewed purpose.”

This followed a reflective Christmas Eve op-ed in the San Francisco Examiner, where Pelosi celebrated the resilience of her constituents.

Nancy Pelosi’s tribute to the spirit of San Francisco

In a tribute to her home city, Pelosi expressed that her heart was full during this "holy time of year — a season of reflection, hope and gratitude."

Pelosi credited the "true wonder of San Francisco" not to its iconic landmarks, but to the diverse "workers and families, the students and veterans, the dreamers and doers" who populate its neighborhoods.

Reflecting on the city’s history of overcoming adversity, she noted how the community remained steadfast through earthquakes, the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and various economic hardships.

Pelosi maintained that "San Franciscans met those moments with courage, innovation and an abiding sense of responsibility for one another," proving that "progress is possible when compassion leads the way."

Pelosi talks about leading the nation through goodness

In the op-ed, Pelosi reiterated her belief that "America is great when America is good," asserting that her city has consistently led the nation by honoring human dignity and standing for justice.

Her holiday prayer for the country was a call to action, asking that citizens "continue to offer faith where there is darkness, hope where there is despair and love where there is sorrow" while remaining "full participants in our democracy."

Furthermore, Pelosi formally acknowledged the approaching end of her tenure, noting that "representing you in Congress has been the greatest official honor of my life for nearly 40 years.”

She added, “I am filled with gratitude for your confidence, your partnership and your example. And I am filled with optimism in our future. Because I believe in San Francisco. I believe in the goodness of its people. And I believe, as St. Francis teaches us, that we are called always to be instruments of peace.”

She concluded by saying, “Thank you for the blessing of representing the greatest city on Earth — the place that I will always believe is heaven on Earth.”

It is to be noted that Pelosi 's term ends in January 2027.
