NBC and MSNBC mocked after parent company Comcast joins Trump’s White House ballroom donors

WASHINGTON, DC: Comcast, the parent company of MSNBC and NBC, donated to President Donald Trump’s new East Room ballroom project, sparking online trolling. 

Despite Comcast's donation, MSNBC hosts, including Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, and Rachel Maddow, have criticized the Republican leader for "destroying" and "desecrating" the People's House.

Trump is transforming the East Wing into a 90,000-square-foot ballroom that can host at least 650 guests for official events.

Netizens joke Comcast is helping Trump 'destroy' the White House 

The White House released a list of donors for the new East Room ballroom, which includes major corporations and prominent individuals.

The lists includes Altria Group, Amazon, Apple, Booz Allen Hamilton, Caterpillar, Coinbase, Comcast, Hard Rock International, Google, HP, Lockheed Martin, Meta, Micron Technology, Microsoft, NextEra Energy, Palantir Technologies, Ripple, Reynolds American, T-Mobile, Tether, Union Pacific Railroad, J Pepe and Emilia Fanjul, the Adelson Family Foundation, Stefan E Brodie, the Betty Wold Johnson Foundation, Charles and Marissa Cascarilla, Edward and Shari Glazer, Harold Hamm, Benjamin Leon Jr, the Lutnick Family, the Laura & Isaac Perlmutter Foundation, Stephen A Schwarzman, Konstantin Sokolov, Kelly Loeffler and Jeff Sprecher, Paolo Tiramani, Cameron Winklevoss, and Tyler Winklevoss.



The mention of Comcast, the parent company of MSNBC, NBC, and CNBC, immediately drew attention online. Users on X (formerly Twitter) reacted with a mix of surprise and humor. One account from Townhall wrote, "It looks like your parent company is helping to 'DESTROY' the White House!!"



Another commented, "I'm surprised Comcast is a donor for this."



Some questioned whether MSNBC would report the donation to its viewers, asking, "NOW THAT IS FUNNY........BUT will they report this TO THEIR VIEWING PUBLIC???????"



Others trolled the situation more directly. One said, "This is TOO funny 🤣😂🤣," while another added, "…and they couldn’t possibly be expecting anything in return 🙄."





One quipped, "Who would have ever believed NBC, MSNBCs owner, Comcast, has donated to the big beautiful Ball room Trump is building🤣🤣🤣🤣."



Another noted, "Comcast, MSNBC's parent company, disclosed they donated money for the WH ballroom Trump is building. Awkward for the MSNBC loons who are trash talking."



Some criticism focused on Comcast’s business practices, with a netizen writing, "So, Comcast is paying for a new unnecessary Ballroom at the White House while they stiff us year after year with higher bills. Enough with this. We have other choices."



How much has Comcast donated to Trump’s ballroom project?

Comcast, which the Trump administration has scrutinized over its reported interest in acquiring Warner Bros Discovery, has donated millions to fund the White House makeover.

While no one has confirmed the exact amount, a source familiar with the matter estimates the donation at between $5 million and $10 million to support the president’s so-called “state ballroom project.”

The White House revamp has stirred controversy, as workers have begun construction across the entire East Wing to create what many view as an unnecessarily lavish 90,000-square-foot ballroom. 

Comcast has a clear incentive to court favor with Trump as the company faces significant regulatory opposition to its Warner Bros Discovery acquisition, as first reported by The New York Post

In addition to antitrust hurdles, sources say the president holds a personal grudge against Comcast due to its ownership of the MAGA-critical MSNBC cable network and the left-leaning NBC television network.

A government official familiar with the matter told The Post, “The odds that (Comcast CEO) Brian Roberts is going to be able to expand and buy CNN or whatever is low. Maybe Brian Roberts comes up with a grand detente with the president, but I don’t think that will happen and that’s the key.”
