LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Streaming giant Netflix announced a new documentary series revolving around NFL star Aaron Rodgers on Monday, September 9. The quarterback for New York Jets made his comeback on the field the same night, after rupturing his Achilles last year.

The story of his recovery, 'Aaron Rodgers: Enigma' will stream from December 17. The three-part series has been produced by Religion of Sports, Skydance Sports and NFL Films.

However, sports fans appeared displeased with the announcement of the 40-year-old player being celebrated for his comeback in a documentary. Rodgers had fallen from grace after taking a controversial stance on vaccines during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aaron Rodgers and the controversies he has been embroiled in

Aaron Rodgers had expressed doubts over the safety of Covid-19 vaccines on multiple occasions. According to the Independent, he also accused Dr Anthony Fauci, who was the chief medical adviser to POTUS during the pandemic, as “one of the biggest spreaders of misinformation".

He refused to wear masks and claimed that he had been "immunized" in 2021. A few months later in November, Rodgers contracted Covid-19. However, he refused to back down from his earlier stance, calling himself a "critical thinker" who believes in "bodily autonomy".

Claiming that he was allergic to ingredients in two of the FDA-approved vaccines, Rodgers shared that he followed the advice of podcaster and conspiracy theorist Joe Rogan, which earned him further criticism.

But apparently Rodgers did not learn his lesson from this criticism. He went on a podcast in March 2024, alleging that Dr Fauci and the US government had a role to play in the transmission of HIV/AIDS among the public in the 1980s. He also promoted the conspiracy theory that Fauci had a "stake" in both the Moderna vaccine and the medication Remdesivir that was used against Covid, reported Marco.
